At what point in your life did you give up on high name brands?

Do you still admire certain brands? Maybe you balance brands? Or altogether don’t care for brands?

I don’t wear brands. I am pretty loyal to Apple and Craftsman tools. But I don’t use brands to flaunt my poverty.

Never started.

I used to be an A brand guy around my t(w)eens.
Then a period of buying C and D brands came.
Now I consider every brand that I buy/use/wear be they A, B, C, D or E or Z to be my A brand.

I’ve never been a brand person except for very few things such as a make of handbag for it’s quality and clothes for quality and consistency of size/fit.

I’ll buy Craftsman tools and, @johnpowell , imagine my amazement that there is something we agree on! and high quality home repair items, as I don’t want to have to do it twice. Other than that I am woefully ignorant of “brands”, and am often missing on the jokes or references to such.

The only brands I am loyal too are certain food items, and my Maytags. lol

It’s more about how well the product in question meets my expectations. Until it proves itself I don’t care what the name on the label says and with its consistency so goes my loyalty.

I think it’s preposterous to spend $300+ on a handbag… Coach, or Vuitton, or whatever, or like $700 for one pair of Jimmy Choos. I guess I don’t really understand the whole prestige fashion thing.

As with @wonderingwhy, I will abandon a brand if it no longer lives up to my expectations. Cole Haan is in the clink with me because their men’s shoes are no longer of the quality they were 10 years ago and before- could have something to do with being made in China instead of Italy?

When I was young, in middle school, I probably did it then. But no later than age 16 I’d say. That’s when I got obsessed with thrift stores.

In the 50s, just about everything was a brand name and cheap. It was after the war and everything was just beginning in everything. As the years have passed by, the brand names seem to have dwindled down to nothing. Even if you find a brand name, its not worth the price. No wonder our economy sucks.

Today, I consider Samsung products to be of high value and dependable. I have a Samsung phone, flat screen tv, camera, and a huge refrigerator/freezer. All have a five star rating by J.D. Power and rightly so.

Some consider Made In China a brand name, but not me.

I never really chased brands, but I have some that I think represent quality merchandise.

I do not like the way people in my school all dress with the same exact shirt styles. The brand names Gilly Hicks, Aeropastel, Abercrombie and Fitch….blah. Why wouldn’t someone like to display their uniqueness and actual fashion? Dressing identically is NOT fashion or pleasing to the eye. I shop and buy whatever I think is cute, regardless of the brand…and I’m proud of it.

I’ve never really been into it. There are certain designers that I really admire to the extent of pining over their clothing, but I can’t afford their stuff and likely wouldn’t be willing to shell out that much money even if I could afford it. I like designer things because of the clothing, not just because of a name. I think Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs make some of the most fantastic stuff. Just way over my price range.

I never gave up.

My life is branding. And I don’t mean with an iron.

I get whatever is the cheapest. It will be good enough for who it is for. Douchebags wear Oakley sunglasses.
