I generally feel colder than most people. Why?

Asked by Jellie (6492points) November 23rd, 2011

It’s coming on to winter around here and although the weather hasn’t completely turned I am onto sweaters and socks and all sorts of layernig. I’m the only one though. I have also noticed that I tend to feel cold more easily than others.

Is there a way I can fix this or is this a permanent body temperature thing?

Are you skinny? I’m like this too. Except, oddly, last year I suddenly got a lot better with it. I used to have to wear sweaters on sweaters on sweaters during the winter. Now I’m okay with just a long sleeve shirt. I have no clue how I managed to change though, sorry.

Could be many reasons:

Iron dificiency
Hypothyroid
Very thin
Too sedentary
Female
Just unlucky

It could be a lot of things. My parents had completely different metabolisms, if that’s what it is, and fought the “battle of the thermostat” throughout their entire marriage.

Poor blood circulation?

I’m the same way. I would suggest a nice electric blanket. Every night is tike climbing into a vagina.

I am exactly the same way. Just layer a lot.

Just wait until you start having hot flashes, like some of us gals, then you’ll wish you still felt cool. LOL.

But I do agree with @JLeslie and @zensky.

Have you always felt cold, or did this start recently? If you haven’t had a check up with your doctor lately, it might be a good time. I just had one.

I’m like that too but I’ve no idea what causes it either. It used to be because I was very skinny. I’m not skinny any more but I still feel the cold more than most.

I’m cold most of the time. It’s a pain in the ass. I’m quite thin so I used to put it down to that but I have friends who are quite thin and not constantly cold so it’s anyone’s guess really. Loads of layers for me.
