Do you feed your dog this kind of treat?

Asked by rooeytoo (26986points) November 28th, 2011

I was trying to find a recent (I think) question about feeding a dog. And of course the debate of raw bones vs. rawhide etc. arose. I wanted to add this to the question but I can’t find it. So I will ask a new question and hope that all interested parties see it.

URGENT WARNING TO ALL DOG OWNERS!!!!!!
I just saw this posted and I am reposting this WARNING!!!!! It was on Fox news earlier that 70 dogs have died as a result of eating chicken jerky treats made from chicken that has come from China. Kingdom Pets brand from Costco is one of them. Also certain Blue Buffalo brand pet foods have a recall for the same thing. Please re-post and make sure all your doggie friends are aware of this.

I googled it and it all appears to be true.

Do you have any links that shed more light to this? It would be helpful if you had included what you found.

The notice was posted on a breed club list I belong to. I googled “Chinese dog treats killing dogs” or something like that and there were a lot of hits. I have seen similar warnings on several of the breed lists I monitor so I am assuming it is true or google would have kicked me into urban legends or snopes.

If you don’t believe it, then ignore it. I have always thought they were a disgusting and chemically treated alternative to good ole rmbs!

Good work @DrBill – so it is undetermined. I guess it is up to the individual then whether they want to take the chance or not! Thanks for the link.
