I need information about a career test in public school systems.
I go to a private school, and I was recently informed by a public-school friend that they took a test which assesses one’s aptitude in their future careers. This concept sounds intriguing to me, and I’d like to try it out for myself. What is the name of this test, and is it possible to access it via the internet?

It sounds as if you need to find out the name ot the test from your friend. It might also be worthwile to ask the school’s guidance counselor, meaning your school and your friend’s.
A better tactic is to get out and experience different job opportunites, be it paid or volunteer work. Keep a journal about what you like and dislike about each task required. It should be about the tasks that jazz you and time flies rather than those that you do well but weakens you to accomplish. By keeping a list, you may discover what makes you happy, thus give you some direction career-wise.
Do not think that the field you choose is the end of the line in selecting the right fit. Here is an example: two people major in law. One is jazzed by being in the courtroom and defending a client, while the other feels like a puddle after a period in front of the judge. S/he (ze) prefers doing the research to support the case’s defense. Independently, they may do a good job. By combining their strengths, they make a successful team by playing to their strengths.
If you are intersted, feel free to contact me via PM, and I’d be glad to point you in the direction of a book and self-assessment that may be helpful. It certainly changed my life.
The ones in public schools are largely worthless; they don’t do any more of a thorough questioning of your personality, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, etc (much less an effective analysis thereof) than online quizzes trying to tell you which Harry Potter character you are do. There are some tests online that do this, but again, the free ones are worthless and the paid ones aren’t really much better (especially for less than half a grand). In order for the test to have any real value, you need to sit down with a qualified professional and spend quite a bit of money on it.

Ooh, which Harry Potter character am I…
You know, your answer does make sense. I’m constantly spending time on online quizzes and being cheated out of answers because I wasn’t informed in the BEGINNING that it wasn’t free. As to the ones given in school systems, according to my dad (who doubtlessly took a very outdated version) the results actually fit his interests quite accurately. You and @Pied_Pfeffer may have misunderstood that I don’t actually treat the test as an accurate portrayal, but I am interested in the accuracy of the results. More out of curiousity that anything else. I appreciate the answers, though.
@jellyfish3232 Yeah, it’s not always wrong, it just doesn’t take the time to figure out all the nuances of personality, so it becomes a hit or miss kinda thing (and really, if you know that it’s a hit, did you really need the test in the first place?).
The one that we took was called Explorer Learning.
