PSNH (Public Service New Hampshire)
One or two a year. 99% are from storms.
The issue of an outage a a few minutes or hours is no big deal after you have to go a week without because of weather.
2008 Ice Storm – 8 days out – 1.7 Million people outage
2010 Wind Storm – 3 days out –
2011 Hurricane Irene – 1 day – 4 Million people outage (across many states and companies)
2011 Snowtober – 4 days – 3 Million people outage (across many states and companies)
Needless to say, I own a generator
For some odd reason my end of the county seems to have a several hours long power outage about once every year. Squirrels are usually the culprit here by crawling inside one of the transformers in our substation. Poor thing. It seems no matter what the power company tries they find a way in. PPL supplies our power.
Usually happens a few times during the spring/summer… almost always related to heavy storms. They typically only last a few seconds or a few minutes, but of course sometimes we have stretches without power.
Ohio Edison.
On or two short outages per year. Usually due to wires downed by falling tree branches from heavy snow load. RG&E
At least twice a year where it last more than 24 hours. That’s because my little neigborhood, five house, is at the lend of the line. When ever there’s a big storm our power goes out. Because we’re at the end of the line, and only five houses, we’re last to be turned back on. It usually only take a few minutes for the power company to reset the transformer once they arrive.
Every time there is a strong wind or a snow storm. So pretty much throughout the year, which is annoying. They normally last 5 mins to a half an hour. But having to set your clocks once every two months or so is tiring. Rocky Mountain Power is the company.
