What are some natural options for scenting a house?
I don’t like air fresheners or heavy, artificial scents. But I am having a party, and I want the house to smell nice.
Are there any natural options?

Absolutely nothing!
Just open the windows and let the fresh air in…
Floral bouquets in vases.
Bowls of potpourri.
Boiled cinnamon water.
You can simmer cinnamon sticks in hot water.
@ANef_is_Enuf I am using a large bouquet of Enchantment Lilies, which smell wonderful.
If you have a fireplace and a fire going, you can throw pine cones in for the pine scent to fill the room.
Put a little tinfoil pouch of cinnamon and vanilla extract in your oven on low. Mmm. :-)
@HungryGuy I don’t know where @marinelife lives, but this time of year around here the “fresh air” is something like 23F. ;)
@marinelife personally, I always think lilies are a good choice. Very pretty.
@ANef_is_Enuf – 23F?!?! Brrrr!!! In that case, light a fire or some candles…nice smell without smelling like perfume or scented chemicals.
Orange peels or slices, cloves and cinnamon sticks in water simmering on the stove, or in a crock pot.
My neighbor brings in a piece of fresh cut pine lumber when he wants that “new house” smell!
I like to put a few drops of essential oils in boiling water to make the apartment smell nice. You could put bowls of water around the house if you’re trying to spread a scent in a large area.
My suggestion is an old real estate trick, make the home smell homey, like fresh baked cookies. Subliminal manipulation. haha
Do you have an extra oven hidden somewhere that you can surreptitiously slow cook a turkey in?
I don’t want to spam, but I sell essential oils and have a really cool atomizer to diffuse them. PM me if you want a link.
I have little bottles of essential oils, I put a piece of cotton or some sort of wicking material in it. The oil soaks into the wick and with the top part of it sticking out of the bottle, makes the whole room smell nice.
