Any other Askville users still check in over here?

If so, would you mind letting folks over at Askville know that Genelle finally got around to banning me, so I won’t be seen over there any longer.
(whether that causes groans or cheers, it’s all good by me. :-P )

I’ve never been to Askville, but I’ve seen a lot of your answers and none were bannable. You’re a not a troll, so it’s probably a lame website, anyway.
In fairness, years of bitterness made me much more of an a** over there than I’ve ever been here.
Can you tell us what question got you banned (so I can register there and ask it as well :-p
No real way for me to know, since I first found out about the banning when I tried to log in this morning, and was prevented from doing so. The latest epic was a 2 hour long troll-athon between myself and another guy there. He was being an arrogant prick, I called him out for being an arrogant prick, and we commenced insulting each other for a couple hours. That could have been it. <shrug>
Yeah, that could’a been it :-p
I never go over there any more. How can you stand it? Oh well. I guess you don’t have to any more.
That’s kinda why I wasn’t exactly careful with watching what I say any longer. Honestly, I’m surprised she didn’t ban me earlier.
Hey! Now you’re with the banned! I haven’t been there in a long time and don’t miss it.
Who the fuck’s Genelle? Imma smack that two bit cheap ass ho to the seven hells. XD
Eh, but I’ve never been there, so I can’t do it. I like @HungryGuy‘s suggestion though…if we knew the question, we could go repost it again haha. Although I’m guessing the argument was prolly it.
NO WAY! MrItty, I’m going to see if I can find out what’s going on. If you’re banned, I’m leaving Askville. That’s BULLSHIT.
I saw the exchange between you and the other user (who, btw – is a previously banned returnee, and is still a member as of this morning). There have been a lot worse things said there that have remained on the boards for days, and then simply removed with no censure of the commentor.
To be blunt – you got screwed.
Thanks Goldie & Eureka. It’s not surprising to me. Yeah, I’m an ass at times to the morons over on that site, and Genelle pulled more than a few of my responses for that reason. Although, from what I can remember, only one of her messages to me ever said “this counts as a strike”. <shrug> Oh well. The fact that this particular asshat was not banned for the same conversation, however, really pisses me off and shows just how mismanaged that site truly is.
I have written to Alex requesting an explanation – if not to the community, at least to you.
This really smacks of a ham fisted approach. Typical Askville, right? What a bunch of chooches.
@GoldieAV16 If you think they are “chooches” how come you are still there? The place has been choochville since 2008, at least, if not earlier. You’ve been thrown out and I don’t know what you’ve been doing the last two years. But you are still there. Why? When are you going to ditch it and go somewhere where your intelligence and humor will be appreciated?
Mr Itty, I agree with the rest that you got screwed. The method and lack of information from the AV staff is a major problem. You always provided solid intelligent advice and really good answers to complicated problems. That should buy some space to vent when the occasion needs. dgjones
@MrItty, Genelle posted about your banning and said that an email was sent with explanation, and that it’s for one week. She was “disappointed” that I “stirred the pot” by asking and commenting about it, rather than sending her a PM. Sorry, but I do all my pot stirring out in the open – PM’s are just too gossipy to me and rather inappropriate for a moderator to be discussing members behind their backs. ::shrug::
Glad you got me to take a second look over here, though. It is nice to be among adults (not sure if I qualify, lol) and on a moderated site – one that is moderated for real, and not just to sanitize for the 13 year olds.
She’s lying her ass off. No email was sent. And the error message clearly states that I was permanently banned, not for one week. What a load of crap.
I just read her post on the DBs. How dare Genelle have the gall to state that “there’s nothing she can do” about my not reading the email message. There sure as hell is – she could actually SEND it. There is not a single email in my inbox or spam tray from Askville or Genelle. That is a complete and 100% fabrication on her part.
Actually, no, I take that back. It’s probably simply an error on her part – it’s probably just one more aspect of Askville.com that doesn’t actually work, and she and the rest of the management team turn a blind eye to its complete lack of functionality, because it doesn’t generate any advertising revenue for Amazon.com.
Lest anything think this is a he-said-she-said situation, here’s my proof:
Banned only a week? No
Email sent explaining the banning? No
I had hoped that their communications had improved since I was suspended from the site. They insisted that I had been notified (I had not) and that an explanation was given (it wasn’t).
I wish I could give Genelle the benefit of the doubt, but your evidence is compelling, and in all the years I’ve known you (almost five) I’ve never known you to be anything less than honest. This is disturbing – both the lack of site design that would indicate to you clearly that it was a one week suspension, and the claim that you were notified, and just didn’t read the email. Since she read this question, she could also communicate to you via fluther.
Sorry, Genelle (since you’re reading here). Your mouthwash ain’t makin’ it. I wish ‘twas not so…
I’m about done over there myself, it’s depressing. You aren’t missing a thing, Chooches is freakin’ right on! (I did a search for dgjones and this question popped up- weird.)
Well, there’s always Fluther!
^^^ And Fluther is great. I just don’t understand why conditions are so dismal over there.
Um, no standards, and very little moderation. It’s not really a Q&A site – it’s a click generator. Too bad so many cool people got lured in. Imagine if we’d all found Fluther first, before AV became a bad habit?
You’re so right, Goldie. It’s like picking at a scab :/
