This afternoon on the radio I heard “Lola” by the Kinks.
It had been a while since I last heard it but when it came on I had to sing along with it. I do not know what it is about this song but it is like some unseen force requires that I do so. When the song is over I feel lighter; more at ease with life.
This song is not one that I would consider a “favorite” or one that I think of when someone asks “What is the most influential song ever written?” but is is just one that makes me feel better.
Does anyone else feel this way about this song or do you have a song that you HAVE to sing along with and does it make you feel happier afterwards?

I respond the same way to a good number of songs… the most recent being “The Rainbow Connection,” which incidentally turned into a 2 week long ear-worm.
The Beatles Twist and Shout has me smiling for the rest of the day, whenever I hear it.
Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival. For some reason it is my favorite song to sing along to.
Three Little Birds
I can list a few times when this song just happened and some serious shit was about to go down. In private it can bring me to tears.
Many, including Lola! Can’t not sing that one.
I don’t know, I’m sure there are a lot of songs that might fit your description for me, but just off the top of my head, I would maybe say James Taylor’s Your Smiling Face. It’s dumb little inconsequential James Taylor song but it always make me feel good when I hear it.
The King himself, Jam by MJ.
Walk on the Wild Side
Uncle Albert by McCartney
Obla DE and some other Beatles
If I know the words I’m pretty much singing along. BTW @rojo, I have seen The Kinks in concert three times and they have done Lola as an audience sing along every time! It is really cool because they play the starting chords about four times during the show, when the audience goes crazy Ray says “I don’t think you are ready for that yet.” Man those guys put on a great show!
For me, it is also Creedance Clearwater Revival. “Down on the Corner”
I go straight to Massat or Keuhkosi when I’m super agitated. It always makes me feel better, probably because it makes me take deep breaths. Appropriate since Keuhkosi means lungs :) Warning, that’s acoustic black metal.
I can’t help but sing (growl?) along when Moonspell’s Awake comes one. These things stir my soul, figuratively of course.
