What good thing in your life would you trade in to become more attractive or recognized for your accomplishments?

Asked by comity (2837points) December 8th, 2011

Some of us are self critical about our appearance, our accomplishments. We don’t say “I am what I am proudly”. What good thing about you would you trade in to be more attractive or recognized for your accomplishments. Don’t let the devil hear you! ; )
Are you OK with who you are? I know I would love to be thinner, and I’ve tried but…........

Four years ago I would have traded in my wife for love and adoration and maybe even a bit of recognition. Fortunately, things have changed and I no longer feel that way. I’m happy with what I have now.

With ya there, @zensky . I’m good, too. Grateful for what I have, don’t want or need more.

Great answers. I saw the question and my first inclination was to say “My ass because that’s how much I value those things.”

The boat’s on a smooth course; I don’t plan on rocking it anytime soon.

I think I just made that trade.

I’d trade my cat to be taller =)

@janbb I’m so sorry. I would trade some things in to take away your pain.

@Adirondackwannabe You are a dear. There are growing times already when I feel almost normal and happy so hopefully it will abate.

I’d trade the delicious home made fudge with nuts that my friend made for me to be thinner but unfortunately I just finished the entire package. And they say ‘man is the master of his own fate’ well, I’m a woman and that’s my excuse!!

Wow… incredible question. It has really made me think.

I thought… I’d give up my writing skills to get….. nope. I’d give up my money to get…. nope. I’d give up my intellect to get…. nope. My kids, not even. My family members? No… Went through a lot— what I have to give up is not worth what I ‘want.’

But will I give something, anything (except my kids) to guarantee that sure my mom gets through her surgery today with no complications, yes, but I don’t know what I’d actually choose to give up if put in that circumstance.

Ayesha's avatar

@linguaphile I hope everything turns out okay.

I’m attractive enough for now, I mean who needs to be excessively pretty? Not me. :D

I haven’t accomplished that much yet but I’d sell my soul to the devil for a little recognition. Wait those are two non-existent things… I guess that means I’m happy with who I am. :D

@linguaphile Best wishes for mom!!

Is it bad that I think this doesn’t apply to me. Lol!

I would trade my time and points on Fluther to be more attractive and recognized, or just rich and famous would do.

I am ok with me. I trade or give good things to help others.

I had a dream once where I had the choice to trade in my teeth to be a great choreographer. I still think about that dream sometimes.

I would trade in my baking abilities to be more physically attractive. (Not my cooking skills, just baking.) But only if I get to change everything I want to.

@comity I’d happily take some of your body weight, because I want to gain weight.
Other than that, I’m good.

comity's avatar

@MilkyWay Take it, Take it, Take it, etc.

Everything is a tradeoff I feel sometimes! I have always wanted to be beautiful even though I know that is shallow. But there is nothing I would give up in order to get it because it is enough for me to be beautiful to those who love me.

To be recognized for my accomplishments I am willing to give up some of my free time without pay to succeed. I am willing to go the extra mile if I have faith that it will be recognized and appreciated. How will I know it’s appreciated? Sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but the answer is cold, hard, cash!

Nothing I’d give up for looks or recognition. I’d probably give up something to get health insurance, though! Not one of my kids, don’t worry. :)
