Fluther coffee talk - byod (bring your own dessert)

Preferably home made (recipes are welcome) – but if can’t or won’t make a dessert – what would you buy?
How do you like your coffee?
Pull up a stool at the bar – or lounge around – what kind of seat would you prefer?
(I’m on my la-z-boy).

I’m unpredictable, except in coffeeshops. Latte with skim milk, unfrosted scone.
I love the old velvet grandaddy armchairs.
@linguaphile that phrase thread was fun, eh? We got pretty creative there…
Coffee – Black with a sugar, and if it’s decaf someone is gonna die.
Dessert – Angel Food cake (home baked)... or would you guys prefer a marbled German chocolate cheesecake?
Seat – My evil overlord throne
What’s a coffeeshop without slam poetry?!?
I loled at someone is gonna die. I also hate decaf. I hate all instant coffee anyways.
Anger… was my friend.
That odd misfit walking the halls
Awkward smiles all around
A push, a nod, and lots of space.
The not so well liked kid
But she was my friend.
A friend I pushed away
Embarrassed, ashamed
To be seen talking to her.
I was like the kid who tossed
Someone valuable aside
Just to see smiles all around.
Slam! XD
@linguaphile Really good! I’m definitely feeling the coffeehouse vibe now.
I love strong flavors and it’s fun to have the darkest, strongest coffee with the sweetest, richest dessert and then alternate sips and bites. There’s a cute french (themed) place I like that has great French press coffee and creme brulee. My other favorite combination is Turkish coffee with baklava. Or just condense it into one little drink by ordering a cafe con panna, a shot of espresso topped with whipped cream. Yum!
I like my coffee strong and black.
My specialty is desserts. No cheating with store bought for me. I’ll treat you all with my family’s favorite, key lime pie. My secret (well, not anymore) is cinnamon graham crackers instead of honey grahams for the crust.
@King_Pariah and I have some football to discuss. We’ll be by the fireplace if you’d like to join us. :)
@Haleth Thank you, and if you don’t mind, can I take a bite of your baklava…? oooh…. love those things!
I will make some kuchen.
This is close to my recipe.
Coffee has to be hot, black, strong enough to bend a horseshoe and cooked in a blue enamel pot on the campfire, throw in a cracked egg before you pour to settle the grounds.
How is that pronounced? Thanks for taking the time to link to a recipe, btw. Much appreciated.
@zensky Kuchen is pronounced Coo chen with the ch making the same sound as it does in chicken.
Cool. In Yiddish (80% German) a kitchen is a Kuch (the ch is the phlegm sound from Achmed the dead terrorist fame). Probably also a Kuch or Kukh in German. A cookie, and there is a connection of course, is a Kichale (again, phlegm “ch”).
Warm soy, no water chai please. Heavy on the foam. I’d prefer a raspberry crumble but I will take anything chocolate except for cake.
I’d like to sit on the floor with my back against the couch.
I will have a skinny, flat white please.
I will snuggle up in that big, old, comfy armchair over there near the window so I can watch the world go by but also see everyone coming in and leaving and what is happening in here.
Eat… just got back from a Christmas party but I missed out on the pav. A slice of pav would be nice.
Strong black coffee and preferably an old wingback chair.
As for dessert – I’m trying to eat healthily lately! But if you insist – something with toffee, maybe or peanut butter.
I’m too hardcore to ever have dessert.
I like my coffee strong though. A bit of milk, no sugar. If it’s possible, throw a horse shoe in it while it’s being brewed.
If I had to buy something though…theme cookies, or some kinda cake. Those are true stories.
I always fancy a bit of ‘cut and come again’ cake.
