Has anyone ever created a Facebook ad to generate traffic to a site or business?

My GF entered us in a “Best Couple” contest a while back. There were a bunch of challenges that we had to complete and post on the contest website, and people would vote for the best of each challenge. The top few overall couples would compete for the grand-prize which was, I seem to remember, a ridiculously expensive engagement ring. I put up a Facebook ad, but didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on it. I couldn’t really tell how much traffic it actually sent to our profile on the contest website, but it did get the max number of clicks that I set up each day (it charges you based on the number of clicks. If you don’t want to rack up a ridiculous bill, you set a max number. Once it reaches that number for the day, it stops showing the ad). I set my max number of clicks pretty low, since I didn’t have a lot of money to spend on it.

We didn’t win the contest, fwiw. But I did win lots of brownie points for putting up an ad.
