I’m doing a project on Steve McCurry and I need to explain the evolution of his work and I need some of his earlier work, preferable during the time when he was taking pictures for a local newspaper. All I can find is his recent stuff. Does anyone know where I can find this? Thanks

Here is his famous photograph Afghan Girl from 1985.
@marinelife I’m looking for his earlier work, before he became famous, but thanks anyways
@lawlz I would look up the newspapers that he worked for in suburban Philadelphia and see if you can find some of his photos online.
McCurry attended Penn State University and worked for the the school newspaper, The Daily Collegian, in the early 1970s. He only worked two years at a newspaper after graduating from Penn State. He worked for Today’s Post, a newspaper in King of Prussia, Penn.
I can’t find any of his earlier work before he quit the newspaper and went to freelance. He is one of the best photographers in the world.
Your school might subscribe to a database called America’s Newspapers. If they do you can use it to search the local newspapers where he used to work.
How far back does the database go, @SuperMouse? Is it something where they’ve computerized or modernized the old microfiche collections of newspapers?
@bkcunningham it depends on the newspapers. Some newspapers go further back then others. Some have their older stuff digitized and available through the database.
