@YARNLADY Do you miss the music or anything else from the old days? I was dancing around the room listening to the song “Give Me That Old Time Rock And Roll”
I have most of the music from that era, so I don’t have to miss it. What I do miss is having the energy and motivation to do all the things I want to do.
I will be 68 tomorrow and I never will consider myself to be an old fogie.
When 1985 appeared, I think all the good songs and songwriters…....died!
No one writes music today like sang by the Bee Gees or the Four Seasons.
About to turn 68. Then just one more year to my favorite number. You see, I think that Douglas Adams got it wrong. The answer to life, the Universe and everything isn’t 42, it’s 69.
Anyhow, yeah, I’m out there. WAY out there. :-)
I’m not an “old fogie”, yet I agree with @john65pennington, all the good songs were written on or before 1985.
What I hear on the radio these days is atrocious. I wish my generation was more creative and original.
I take my hat off to all those over 65!
Yes, I’m in this group. But, i am young at heart still. Still love the old songs too… like
“Rock Around the Clock” and “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On”
But, those words just have a different meaning to this old lady that has been going round and round the clock for decades… and shakin more and more as the clock goes round. :-)
I know what you mean! I talk about the music I miss. But there are things that I don’t miss like the pressures of earning a living. I think with old age there’s the aches, the pains, but also the tranquility!
Thanks all for the Birthday Wishes.
I went for a physical and my doctor told me, “listen to your body, it will tell you when to slow down”. I thought about this that night and decided to just cut off my hearing aids, so my body cannot forcast my physical being.
My mind controls my body and so far, I feel like I am 52, instead of 68.
Does any of this make any sense?
Yes it does and that’s terrific. You must be in good shape physically. Do you exercise regularly? I didn’t feel tired until the past couple of years, but then again I haven’t been exercising. Unfortunately, the body does dictate a little as to how one responds to things. Keep on keepin on Mr. 52 year old!
Always was and still is one of my favorites. By the above standards, I am not yet an old fogie, I have about a year to go before I pass that landmark. I just happen to be listening a video concert by one of my favorite artists of the era, Neil Young.
