How could a person feel safe making meth in back of a Walmart?

Asked by Aster (20028points) December 17th, 2011

In Tulsa recently a woman stole lighter fluid and sulfuric acid , amongst other things, and set up a meth lab in the back of a Walmart. It took six hours before she was noticed and arrested while burning a policeman’s hand during the arrest with the chemicals right through his glove. She stated that she just “could not afford the ingredients” to make the meth so had to steal them. What could cause a person to have this lack of judgement?

Ingesting meth causes a supreme lack in judgement, so that would be my guess, her drug useage.

Meth is disgusting and it causes gross misjudgment. You will never hear anyone defend Meth for its positive attributes because there are none.
I can’t think of a more disgusting combination. Walmart and Meth. I feel like I need to wash just thinking about them.

The meth has eaten away at her brain. Meth also destroys the enamel on human teeth and can make a person age 30 years within 10 years.

I have a 20 year photo diary of an 18 year old woman that began using meth at 18. She was a beautiful woman at 18. The progression of the decay of her body, by meth, is unbelievable. At age 38, she is wrinkled, has no teeth, lost most of her hair and her age appears to be 65 years old.

Making meth is also inherently dangerous wherever you are, so it’s only moderately more dangerous in back of a Walmart. And like everyone else has already said, using meth undermines your ability to make good judgments,

I failed to add this just recently, a couple was arrested for making meth out of the trunk of their automobile. I am also ashamed to say this was in a country town in Tennessee. Officers were behind their vehicle and could smell the meth cooking from the trunk of their vehicle.

They were driving a vehicle ready to explode at any time. Both arrested.

Safe?

Safety is at the absolute bottom of the priority list for addicts.

And that goes triple for Meth addicts. How many times have we seen in documentaries where the police are raiding one of these homemade meth labs in a kitchen and are seen wading through toddler toys and baby bottles strewn all over the place.

What Mother in her right mind would allow that danger within footsteps of where their children are playing?

As I said, safety is really low on the priority list.

But if you think about it for a sec, the back of a Walmart is a tad safer than most other typical alternatives. At least the blast from the potential explosion isn’t confined to a small enclosed space :)

I don’t know much about meth, but I’m guessing its addiction factor must be pretty hardcore, like most hard drugs. Unfortunately, I doubt that most people who really need their fix prioritize safety. The urgency which compels someone to steal ingredients and set up a lab in Walmart proves just that. :/
