Has anyone really had a piece of whiskey endowed cake at Christmas, that made them tipsy?

My mother-in-law use to make a German Cake from a handed-down recipe of many generations. It actually was a pint of Jack Daniels with some cake around it. You could smell the alcohol when you first walked into her house. We were only allowed a small piece of cake, since a little bit went a long way for intoxication. Seriously, this cake should have been served with a free taxi cab card to go home, it was that dangerous. And, we never lit a match around it. Question: have you ever had just one piece of alcohol-loaded cake, that made you tipsy?

Nope, I don’t know that I’ve ever eaten a piece of alcoholic cake, period.

while I was in the Navy, some of the wives had a contest to see how much booze thy could fit into a fruit cake. The results were similar to your mother-in-law’s cake. I could only get through a couple pieces. The best one used Irish Whiskey.

That’s what happens when you get stationed overseas where the wives can’t work boredom instigates strange games like the weekly women’s softball game with free drinks for the players.

Yes! I was dating a guy and had only met his parents a few times. They offered me rum cake and I declined, being 19 and not wanting to make a bad impression. They assured me the alcohol baked out. HA! I ate a slice and was looped. Come to find out the lady who made it pours rum over it and lets it sit, then flips it over and does the same. Repeat for several days, weeks? Needless to say, they were amused.
