Why does Fluther delete the personal questions?
I asked about my performance in a video, which I really needed help on, and the next second it was deleted without even notice. Why? I’m not looking for ego boost, I have my college auditions approaching as some people here already know, and I really needed intelligent people’s advice and opinion.

It was self promotion plain and simple. We have black and white rules here.
Contact Augustlan. It may have been worded oddly, there may be a glitch, anything. Instead of asking a random question to the collective, contact the people who actually know.
And, BTW, read all the way through the guidelines before posting a Q like this next time. You’ll find that you get very little sympathy when you do that, and you can avoid some potential embarrassment by understanding the system before bitching about it.
I did, and still I can’t find my answer. I wasn’t self-promoting. “Oh! Check out my new album!!” Ha, no. I guess it was deleted because I posted a link, and certain links like youtube isn’t allowed to be posted directly.
Yes, they are allowed sometimes. If you have contacted Augustlan directly through a PM, she may be asleep or tending to her life. If you have contacted the mods in General, remember that they are volunteers with real lives, jobs, families, school, etc. They will get back to you. I would recommend not making wild randome assumptions about the nature of how the site works without finding out, first.
Well Jill I’m asking the question for a reason I’m not dancing around in my room with flames all over me right now. You don’t have to get all excited slash angry about everything. Thank you for the answer, I’ll contact them.
Making my point nicely about being touchy. Thank you.
Fluther does not “delete” questions without sending an edit/notification. Did you check your e-mail?
Questions of a personal nature aren’t deleted if they follow the guidelines. But here is a question that was deleted, and here is the resulting discussion about why. Questions like “hey, tell me if my [thing I did] is good!” aren’t allowed. I didn’t see your question so I don’t know if this exactly applies, but I hope this helped.
@JilltheTooth I just wanted to let you know that I see the tone of your post differently from the way you do. I’m not complaining, mind you, but I don’t think it is fair to say you are not being “touchy.”
For example, saying, “And, BTW, read all the way through the guidelines before posting a Q like this next time.” sounds pretty snide to me, verging on the aggressive.
No, @wundayatta , I actually meant it to be a bit snide, because the tone from the OP was a bit whiny.

@Earthflag: Using a sweeping generality to make your point (everyone, every situation) isn’t helpful debating tactics, primarily because it is not true.

@Earthflag, questions that simply consist of asking the Collective to review a jelly’s creative work are considered self-promotional and will be moderated. Please note @syz‘s point that questions do not simply disappear, whenever a question is moderated the asker is notified and given the reason(s) for the moderation. If you have any more questions you can PM myself, Augustlan, or any of the moderators.
Because it’s a Q&A site not a blog.
This just isn’t the place for getting reviews/critiques of your singing/acting/poetry, etc. As has been mentioned, you pretty much always receive a notice if your question has been removed, telling you why.
These folks ^^ are right. If you ask about anything that is acceptable withing the guidelines you’ll find that, Godammit! They CARE!!!
Sorry @Earthflag These rules went into effect after the disasterous 2008 AstroChuck Butt-Yodeling incident.
@filmfann: You mean it wasn’t over the “how to make your dog fart” issue?
There could be “critique section.” That would be ace!
There are no new plans afoot; the owners are busy with other projects (elsewhere…tweet tweet)
