Is there a way to erase an existing background to a photo that you took and create a new one?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) December 26th, 2011

Say there’s the normal picture of you taken at a bar or club or your living room and you wish to get rid of the background and insert your own.

I know you can insert icons over the background and you can frame your picture, but I want to completely delete the background and put something of my own.

Is there a program that can let you do this?

It can be done pretty easily if you’re familiar with Photoshop or similar image manipulation programs, but I don’t know about programs specifically for cutting you out of a photo.

With Photoshop you can cut out yourself, then put it on top of another background.

@AshlynM Yup. In Photoshop or Gimp (free) just cut yourself of the photograph>file new>open background you image>paste the cut out>use healing brush around the edges/or clone stamp around the edges. Haha, it requires a lot of patience. It’s why Graphic Designers get paid the big bucks to do it.

I mean, if you have one specific photo in mind, I could do it for you.
