Dragon Quest VIII: What do you think happened to Marcello?

When Marcello is defeated, he simply limps off never to be seen again. I honestly find that rather implausible because, in my opinion, he isn’t the sort to just “go away quietly”, especially given the “happy” endings others got. I actually expected even more to happen between him and Angelo.

So, what do you think happened to Marcello? What do you think should have happened with him?

I think he heals up, regroups his thoughts, comes up with another devious plan and stronger than ever.
