Awesome game. I checked it out at my friend’s house the other day, and the revamped feel of the game was cool.

It really is a shame that Fi is so goddamn obnoxious.

I’ll just leave this here…

I beat it already. I am sad. :(

You can always play it again in Hero Mode!

Except for the fact that you’d have to once again put up with Fi’s bullshit

@Qingu man, you hit the nail on the head. I also thought that the instrument mechanic was seriously lacking. Did anyone else do the side jobs for the Lumpy Pumpkin? I had to preform that freaking harp piece ten times before they gave me a passing grade.

@Foolaholic Yep, did the side jobs, I also noticed the harp often didn’t respond properly to me moving the wiimote. Had a little trouble opening the trials too because of it. I was just glad you didn’t have to play the harp too often.

A lot of people seem to have trouble with the harp! I never had a problem with it. You just hold the wiimote on its side (so the edge is facing up) and sweep it back and forth like a guitar pick. Maybe it’s because I’ve had a lot of practice with Guitar Hero/Rock Band. :)

And I actually liked the harp quite a bit. Not as fun as the ocarina, since you can’t actually “play” it. But I thought it was way better than the wind waker or that stupid wolf howling thing from Twilight Princess. I also am amazed that they managed to program accompanying arpeggios to all of the songs in the game for when you decide to whip out your harp and strum along.

I only tried the lumpy pumpkin sidequest once, and I’m not sure if I actually succeeded, but if I didn’t it was because the beat kept shifting.

Fi is annoying, but I still LOVE Skyward . . . Is it better than OoT in everyone’s opinion? I can’t decide . . .

Mariah's avatar

I loved Skyward, but I prefer OoT. Skyward was too easy!

mrrich724's avatar

@Mariah Skyward is really easy . . . come to think of it. Just time consuming. OoT had puzzles that would just genuinely STUMP the F out of you for days or even weeks!

Mariah's avatar

Though I gotta say it’s way more fun to legit swordfight than mash B.

mrrich724's avatar

Oh absolutely.I just don’t like when i forget to put links sword away so he’s running around holding his sword vertically, LOL

Qingu's avatar

I thought they were about as hard. OoT may have seemed harder cuz you were younger? I guess it did have harder puzzles, but probably easier combat.

I played SS without picking up heart containers though…

mrrich724's avatar

@Qingu good point. could be that I was over 10 years younger . . . hmmmm. Well IGN has an article about which is better. I truly can’t make up my mind.

Qingu's avatar

I think Ocarina is better, for the time it was made. The move to 3-D was more revolutionary than the move to motion controls. But I’d put Skyward Sword second. And I’d certainly have trouble playing OoT today with SS’s new and better controls and design sensibilities.

Though really some of the shit that Skyward Sword does is absolutely inexcusable. Fi repeating information that a character just said, verbatim? The game stopping and telling you that you’ve found your 52nd amber relic? Is there anyone who likes that kind of thing? If Zelda doesn’t improve the way it conveys information to the player in the next game, I’m going to be pissed.

@Qingu I think it’s typical Nintendo appealing to children, kids need to see it over and over to get it! LOL
