Why does Google News not keep my web search?
I Google something, in the main bar at Google.com. And then I can narrow it down to ‘images’ or ‘shopping’ or ‘maps’ or ‘video’, but not news. When I click news, it just goes to regular, plain news (http://news.google.com/), not news results for my previous search. And this is fairly new, Google used to not do this. Anyone else having this problem? Know of any fixes?

I have that feature on Google Chrome. I simply open Google Chrome (browser) and all the options you listed are above. Plus I don’t have to type in Google.Com because the browser is Google.com essentially. Might I recommend Chrome to you? It’s much sleeker in my opinion. Plus everything I do is through Google, mail, documents, +, and etc.
@whitetigress I have the same problem in Chrome (I use 3 different browsers), and technically, it’s always in the google search bar, but potayto potahto.
I agree that Chrome might solve your issues, whatever they may be (being Google’s proprietary browser). It’s also the fastest of the ‘big 3’ (IE and Firefox being the other two) and IMO offers pretty cool integration with Google apps.
In any case, regardless of the browser, you’ll want to ensure that you’re signed in when you’re searching news. Also, if you have an “iGoogle” page, you’ll always find your custom search preferences and faves on your iGoogle, the way you set it up.
Google saves your data and search and browsing behavior based on your profile, so try to make sure you’re signed in.
A typical method that all your stuff might go away is if you delete browser cache, history, cookies and all that. The other way you can manually turn off personal web search is by clicking to the end of the URL string in the address bar and typing &pws=0 and pressing enter. This could give you an idea of whether or not you’re seeing your personalized stuff.
@gambitking I am signed in. And like I said, the problem was occurring in Chrome as well, so that doesn’t help anything.
