In your email, can you search for all the email from a sender and then delete?

Asked by flo (13313points) December 30th, 2011

Once I do ’‘Search Email’’ from a particular sender, there is no ’‘Delete’’. I only see ’‘Delete’’ the Inbox page. I want to save 1 or 2 of the emails from this particular sender and delelte the rest. How do you do it?

In my email, I go to the top of the Sender column and click the column header to sort in alphabetical order (either A-Z or Z-A). Then all the emails from the same person are together. I click the delete box next to their first email in the string and then scroll down to find the last email from the sender. I use CTRL-Enter in the bottommost delete box and it selects all the emails from the top box I clicked to the bottom most, thereby ridding my email box of every email from the sender.

What email client/website are you using? Commands are different between gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail, outlook, the Mac email client, etc.

It is Yahoo that doesn’t allow I think. I have to sign out for now. Thank you both.

In the searchbox type in: From:Name (ie, From:Sarcasm). From there, there’s a “Select All” checkbox. Hit that, and then go down the list and deselect the ones that you want to keep. The Delete button is on that top row, between Compose Message and Reply.

Thanks everyone, I went by old information when I asked the question. I see that they have ’‘Delete’’ I guess it one of the changes with the New yahoo

There is an email provider where the Inbox list etc. is not divided by pages. I clicked on the triangle next to ’‘View all…’’ but there is no option there to get it ’‘divide by pages’’. Do you think I have to write them to suggest it?
