So, if I understand correctly, these protesters were opposing raised tuition, the firing of lower university officials, etc… what is the other side of this? Why would someone think these people deserved to be pepper-sprayed?

Not choosing sides here, just curious.

They refused to disperse. A lieutenant figured it was easier to get them to move by spraying instead of by physically removing them one by one.

As an Alumnus of the University of California, I, and thousands more, have written letters of condemnation to the President of the University. Pepper spray should only be used in response to violence.

@stemnyjones The other side says that they disobeyed orders from police.
