How can I keep birds away from my tables & Chairs in the backyard?
We have a real problem with Indian Miner birds. They are constantly pooing on our outdoor furniture and the tiles. I’ve tried hanging CDs, tinsel, Paper mache owls, black silouettes of cats with beady eyes. I’m thinking of making scarecrows next. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks heaps if you do.

Pellet guns. Create enough selection pressure for them to not stay in the area.
My dad and his friends would do the like in Redwood City; after a while, the birds stopped coming around.
Strobe light. When you are out there you can turn it off. It will keep the critters away.
It depends on what is attracting them to your yard.
If there is a food source, water, or maybe a roosting place at night.
Rubber snakes and Owls are rarely very effective. The birds figure out the predator never moves. They are not bird brains. lol
I’d suggest covering your patio furniture.
You might check with your local wildlife rescue group and seek their advice. DO NOT shoot the birds, and, it may very well be illegal in your state. Check with wildlife rescues and Fish Game.
Build a shed and lock them away. the furniture, not the birds
@DrBill is that supposed to be some kind of innuendo?
@Coloma It looks like a pest species, if Google tells me true. If it’s not illegal, I don’t see the harm in pelleting them.
They sell outdoor covers just for this reason. But If they fall into the pest category then I know most states have an elimination law (where they actually beg you to kill the pest). You don’t need to do any harm to the birds, just shoot somewhere, the sounds and echoes will scare them away. Plus, you don’t have to go outside to do it, just crack a window!
Glass shards. Although I wouldn’t recommend it.
I wonder if you display a sculpture of a very large bird that would scare them off?
slingshot!!!!!!!!!!! My uncle made me one and we shot at birds at his house…..then again we’re Canadian so…....
They are very annoying and persistent birds.
I found this site about deterring them The linked document suggests you have to let your yard become a native setting :D, stop mowing and tidying (not realistic I am sure).
This seems to suggest making sure there is nothing to attract them. No pet food and the like. This handbook says similar but also has other tips from deterring them. I think you will have to take a broader approach than just keeping them off your furniture.
They are a real pest in Australia with a lot of councils running eradication programs.
Not sure where you are, but good luck!
Buy a plastic owl, you can get them at Home Depot, or figure out what nest they are coming from and prevent the nests. I had birds who made a nest on top of my ceiling fan on my patio. We waited for the babies to be able to fly, then we took down the nest, and blocked the area with metal mesh so they could not come back.
