Any way that food poisoning could last longer than two days?

Asked by Jude (32204points) January 12th, 2012

I am pretty sure that I ate something bad three days ago. My stomach has been off (“poop through the eye of a needle” off).

Yes, the affects of food poisoning can last up to a week, speaking from experience. Also, you should go see your Dr. I remember I was on an antibiotic for the week…Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.

Oh yes. My record is 5 days in Singapore where I got ahold of some bad shushi. I finally broke down and went to the doctor on the third day. At first I thought I was going to die, later I was afraid I’d live.

Definitely. Might be a camplobacter infection, like Montazumas revenge. Might need some Cipro. If it does not let up in another few days get some drugs.

Oh yes! Don’t remind me! I have never gotten to a hospital so fast. What an awful experience – I didn’t know which end to put over the toilet bowl faster! I felt really sick for about a week and the effects went on for a while.

Yeh a girl i worked with was off sick for weeks. I think they had to find out what it was to give her the right medication or so she said. Mind you working around food my have made the time off longer than normal as you dont want to be spreading it around.

Unfortunately, it is possible. Make sure you’re keeping hydrated, and if your tummy can stand it, try some Boost or Ensure or something along those lines. If not, Gatorade will help, too.

A friend ate some spoiled salami once, he ended up hospitalized. The whole thing lasted almost ten days after he’d first eaten the bad stuff.

You might try some probiotics to replace the good bacteria you lost. They sell probiotics in any drug store.

Oh yeah. Depending on what you ate or drank, you could have picked up something needing antibiotic in addition to riding the purge out. ha, riding. “D” is miserable, sorry.
