I like to keep a journal/diary, but these days I hate to hand write. I still want to have one to write in, just on the computer. But I dont want to use something like MS Word. I’m looking for something that I can lock other people out of as well.
Are there any journal/diary programs I can download to my computer that have nothing to do with the internet?

This one seems interesting. I’ve not used it yet but it seems to offer some pretty good functions. I’m just not sold on presentation but hey, it could work for you!
As for security, the program doesn’t offer anything itself but maybe you could hide the program file in an encrypted folder, or a protected ZIP file.
@GrayTax Yeah same here, Im looking for something is a little more “book” looking ya know? And something that isnt a “free trial”, just “Free” haha.
@InkyAnn Ah, that may be a little harder to find. I think I saw something that had a more “booky” appearance a few months ago but I’m pretty sure it was just an online/browser based note-taking app.
RedNotebook isn’t free? Damn, I thought it was, sorry.
Edit: MotoDiary Is free, encrypted and minimalistic in design, but doesn’t look like a book. It does save your entries on your computer, but it seems like you can only access them online. Not really anything like what you’re after, just seems cool.
There’s a commenter that says they use text documents in an encrypted folder, with Dropbox to backup and sync between their devices, and that’s all free too!
You can use tumblr like this and just keep it checked as private.
Dunno if this makes a difference to you, but it is possible to password protect a word document.
You can lock people out of MS Word documents using the password protection feature. Depending on the version you’re using, you’d just save the file, then go through the following path: Tools dropdown > Options… > Click “Security”, then you’ll see two fields where you can apply passwords for both opening and/or editing the document. Don’t lose it or forget it or you’ll be hard pressed to get that file open again!
Furthermore, if you can hide files and folders on your computer, but why would people be spying your stuff on your personal machine? Lock the whole PC while you’re at it too
