Ever done something silly or stupid out of jealousy?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29220points) January 16th, 2012

This woman in California(?) recently was charged with felony after lying to an airline company about a bomb on the plane where her husband was a passenger. She wanted to stop him from flying to see a lover.

Never something so outlandish as that, but I’m sure I’ve done some things that were less than admirable on occasion.

I’m hopeful I’d never do something that radical, but I’m certain I’ve taken years off my own life with a jealous mindset.

After my boyfriend and I became ‘official’ we were really close, and he told me everything. He told me that he had a really close friend that he knew from kindergarten and that she and him were just friends. One day she came up to me and said how much she loved him and that she was going to steal him away. Ofcourse out of jealousy, the first thing that I did was told my boyfriend a..interesting story. I said that she was a lesbian and needed the image of a boyfriend so people wouldn’t get suspicious of her, and because of that she was trying to steal him away. He eventually found out I was lying and threatened to move in with her.

racking brain….
I’m kind of surprised that I don’t remember doing anything to anyone out of jealousy, maybe a comment here or there but like @picante, I’ve probably taken years off my life by gnawing on a few jealous bones.

I’d tend more to keep it to myself, or talk myself out of being jealous and move on to a new fixation.

Sure. I was a teenager once, and I’ve been a human all my life. Doing stupid things for silly reasons (and vice versa) comes with the territory.
