Just for fun, how have you adjusted to being a diabetic?

It’s been some years since I was diagnosed, and now that I think about it it really isn’t that big of a deal. I was just curious about everyone else’s views on being (or knowing) a Diabetic. What are some triggers your still fighting or what are some sneaky tricks you pull on yourself to stay straight on your new eating choice?

I have adopted a healthy diet without any adverse effects, and attempt healthy exercise as well (although I am less successful).
i hate it for over a decade. I dont check my sugar often, 5 shots and 2 pills a day. i eat healthy and lose weight though.
sugarfree is often not a good substitute. Melons and berries are good fruit choices.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 about five years ago.
I take my meds without fail. I’ve mostly adjusted my diet for the better (no soda, no candy, ice cream, etc.), I drink a boatload of water, and I test my blood (and track my food intake) three-times-a-day.
So, this is all good. The bad?
I can’t get away from carbs (fresh bread, pasta), and my attempts at exercise have been sad.
@YARNLADY @jazmina88 Exercise is actually pretty easy for us. Even though you might be able to run a triathlon, it’s advised that we just walk. I walk for about 40 minutes on a treadmill everyday, and alot of people have noticed that I’m losing weight.
@jazmina88 All my test strips are dead, so I can’t test my sugar levels. I’m not on any shots but I do have insulin. But I’m on 4 pills :( it’s like swallowing a sock 2 times a day. Also, sugar free is actually proven to lead to multiple sclerosis (Aspartame). I normally drink low calorie sodas, like the new Dr. Pepper ten and diet Sunkist (Mountain Dew has a 10 calorie soda too, but Mountain Dew was the last soda I drank before I was diagnosed, so I refuse to drink any Mountain Dew)
@cprevite Pasta is my vice, but I seem to have no problems with it. Bread, It took awhile for me to veer away from things like sandwiches and stuff. When I was first diagnosed I was trying to eat healthier, so I tried to eat at subway. My blood sugar was always 420 from eating there. I was confused, I can eat chinese food and pizza but I can’t have a turkey sandwich? I’m the type of diabetic that can’t have ANY bread. Cereal does it too, but I had a donut stick one time and I was ok with that.
@Morgitto: My MIL (little old Italian lady) makes homemade pasta all the time and sends it to my house. Aaaarrgg
