What is a good SHORT book that relates to American history?
I need to read a book, but I kind of… cough… procrastinated, so I need a fairly short one to read. The time period can be anywhere between the 1950s to the 1960s, and it has to be American history. (I’m intrigued by the Civil Rights movement, but anything else will do as well)

Thirteen Days: A Memoir of the Cuban Missile Crisis by Bobbie Kennedy. It’s less tahn a couple hundred pages, and describes from the inside how close we came in 1962 to nuclear war with the Soviets.

I forgot I read that! Thank you for reminding me. xD
@zenvelo
Thank you! I think I’ll read that!
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. It’s written as a letter to his nephew (if I remember correctly) about the challenges he faces as a black youth and how to overcome them. The basic message is not to let other people tell you who you are or prevent you from being the best version of yourself.
Black Like Me is a short biographical work about a white person who disguises himself as black and writes about the experience. It’s well worth the read.
