Does getting a DVD from a Redbox machine really only cost one dollar, or are there other fees that they don't advertise?

You might not know until you get to the machine, and then you could be in trouble. Or maybe renting a DVD using Redbox.com before actually going to the machine to pick it up costs extra?

It is only $1 as long as it is returned on time. there are additional fees for being late, or not returning, etc

How long can a DVD be kept without incurring a late fee?

There is no late fee… it’s a dollar (well, here’s it’s now $1.25) a day, for however many days you keep it out.

There is a limit… if you go more than twenty days (or something similar) they stop the clock on the charges as you’ve now purchased the DVD and own it.

Also, you can return the DVD to any RedBox in the country… not just the one you rented from. Works great if you’re flying home and want to watch something on the plane. Many airports have RedBox kiosks for this reason.

Fyi: a “day of rental” ends at midnite local time. So, if you rent a DVD from a RedBox in New York City, catch a flight to Los Angeles, and return the movie at 11:30pm Pacific Time, it’s still “today”... doesn’t matter the time where you got the disc from, just where it’s returned to.

Just a buck. Just return it on time.

My local Redbox recently started charging $1.25 (plus tax!), but yeah. What you see is what you get. And they keep billing you for each day that you have the movie. Haven’t tried it, but I’m pretty sure that there’s a maximum number of days, then the system considers it bought.

It is only a dollar plus tax. Make sure you return them on time…
