How do I delete songs off of my IPad?
My daughter has a boat load of songs in her ITune library on my computer. I only wanted to down load a couple of them, by CCR, but somehow the stupid thing down loaded every single song she had, including songs by Korn and Seven Dust and crap like that. I don’t know how to get those off, and leave the ones I want, including the 15 or so that I’ve purchased.

I very much like the fourth topic for this question.
If you’re using iTunes on your iPad, are you logged into your own account, or is it your daughter’s?
I think all you should need to do is delete all songs you don’t want, either through iTunes (if that’s what you’re using) or some file-browsing software – as I don’t think you have Finder on an iPad, right?
This support article on the apple site tells you how to physically delete files in iTunes 10, which is probably what you’re looking to do. There shouldn’t be much difference in older iTunes versions.
from inside the library on your iPad you can swipe right on the track and select delete.
it’ll keep syncing back to your iPad though if you have automatic synching enabled, so you will have to select your iPad from the sources list when it’s connected again and check the Manually manage my music option.
You’ll have to drag each new track to the iPad from now on, but no more Korn. :D
@sinscriven when I swipe right it just starts the song playing.
Well, my daughter has all her music burned to CD so I can delete songs from the iTunes on my computer…..I’ve been experimenting, but that doesn’t seem to affect the library on my iPad.
@GrayTax I just synced with the iTune library on my computer not realizing I was opening Pandora’s box! I have my own account that I use to purchase music.
I would consider this:
1) In the itunes, drag all of the songs or create a separate smart playlist of all the artists you want on your ipad.
2) In the music tab for syncing (at least this is how I do it for iphone), select ‘sync music’ -> only checked playlists. Check your new playlist and voila – only the music you want will be on there. You’ll just have to modify the playlist if you add music in the future.
Hope this helps,

@Dutchess_III If your daughter’s music is all backed up (and she has her own computer/laptop that she can rip the music to) there’s no reason you couldn’t remove all her music from the computer and have that sync to your iPad. I think you’d have to remove the songs you already transferred but I’m not sure. @glenjamin‘s idea is pretty good though, if you wanted to keep the rest of the music (i.e. that belonging to your daughter) on it too.
