Is there someone that you wish could crawl out of the pages of a book and hang out with you for a while? Why?

Don Quixote and Don Juan DeMarco.
Oh, and Worf to teach me some Klingon.
Captain Aubrey and Dr. Maturin from the Master and Commander series of books.
Either Herculine from The Book of Shadows or Marc Renton from Trainspotting. Both would prolly tell me to gtfo. And it would be good.
And of course I only choose those options because, as far as i know, Xena isn’t in any novels.
Rincewind the Wizzard from Terry Pratchett’s The Color of Magic.
Harry Haller.. If you want to know why read the book.
johnpowell’s book is Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, careful though, for mad men only, god I’m in a love hate relationship with that novel
And since @johnpowell has taken Harry, I’ll take Hermine
I love Hesse.. I actually credit Siddhartha for me finally learning to understand and accept and be comfortable with my life.
That was quite profound and insightful, Ryan. Thanks.
Atticus Finch, from To Kill a Mockingbird. (Big surprise, huh? ~)
Adam, Samuel and Lee from East of Eden.
Holden from The Catcher In The Rye
Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
One of those zombies from World War Z but I want it to hang outside @Symbeline‘s house. That’ll give her a kick. Lol.
As for myself, well, I’ll take Miss Jones from the Devil and Miss Jones. ( I could have sworn there is a book as well, hmm…) : )
Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, and Zaphod Beeblebrox.
Angus Thrermopyle from the Gap series.
I also wouldn’t mind a weekend of drinking with Jack Torrance and Jim Gardener.
I don’t think there’s any novels, but Captain Jean Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise NCC-1701-D (he’s the best captain, and “D” is the nicest Enterprise of any of them), so I could just spend time with everyone on board (I’d be a more sociable version of Picard, also a little more cautious, “Oh there’s a space anamoly that we know nothing about that could destroy the Enterprise in an instant, let’s go up close and put the Enterprise in danger without letting Starfleet know what we’re planning to do”).
I was tempted to say William Riker since he gets to boink all the triple-chested blue-skinned hot alien babes, but I don’t particularly like the character, he’s too full of himself.
@Symbeline – I might be willing to be Xena so I can boink Gabrielle, or Gabrielle so I can boink Xena :-p
Candy Christain from Candy.
Sal Paradise seems like a cool guy, and I would enjoy some writing lessons and melancholy company to bum around with. Max Demian would be wonderful to speak and share a drink with. I’d love to meet Tess, even though she lived a depressing existence. But Lyra Belacqua would be fantastic to know, she’s complex and daring and all that interesting stuff.
Anne from Anne Of Green Gables. I felt like she should have been my best friend when I was a child.
I should like to watch Major Major Major Major.
