Do you wish on falling stars?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37748points) January 25th, 2012

Ever since I was a small child, I have wished on falling stars. My wishes are always selfish, but I’ve noticed they’ve changed. I used to wish to possess something I thought would bring me happiness. Now, I usually wish for the ability to get through some situation I may be in at that time.

Do you wish on falling stars?

Without revealing what your wishes might be specifically, what form do your wishes take? You can tell us your wishes if you want, but I believe that negates them.

Have the types of your wishes changed over time?

No, I don’t wish on falling stars. I just smile in amazement, I love seeing meteors.

A couple months ago my girlfriend and I saw one while we were driving to dinner. We both said “hey did you see that?” at the same time. So she kissed me and we both smiled.

I rarely see falling stars, however I do look up and wish sometimes on the first star I see that night. My wishes have changed over the years but not so much, they are usually directed towards people I love, I am always and have always traveled and lived far away from my famiy and some friends depending on what side of the planet I am on…I usually wish for the ones I am so far from…

I don’t at first. I see the falling star and it reminds me that millions of people are wishing. Then I feel small and wish their dreams come true.

I’ve never seen a falling or shooting star. I don’t make wishes, I don’t believe in that. However I got this retarded habit where I feel I must mentally acknowledge a digital clock if I randomly look at the time, and see the same three numbers in a row. :/

No. I do not wish for falling stars. I make them fall.

I’ve always wished on falling stars. My wishes are a bit meaningful the older I get, but I still feel like a kid whenever I do it. I always feel that sense of amazement when I see one.

My daughter witnessed her first meteors during the Perseids over the summer. We put a blanket on the grass and sat outside for 30 minutes. She got to see 6 or 7. Her excitement was contagious! I think she wished for a new kitty. She loves kittens.

Yes. I haven’t wished on one for a while now…but I usuallly wished for pleasant things. Some of them came true. It took a long time for some of them to come, though. ;)

If you live in a city, you can’t see falling stars or even the Milky Way.

It’s always a delight for me when I go out in the country and see all the stars and the galaxy. And if you lay on your back for a while, you will see some meteorites streak through the atmosphere.

But I have never wished on one.

I don’t recall seeing any actually falling.

I did initially. I went from asking for toys and video games as a kid, to more serious things as a teen, like getting a girl to like me and wishing my life would turn out normal and somewhat successful.

Yes, you never know…

After being so amazed at seeing one (I’ve actually witnessed them about 3–4 times) I forget to make a wish. sigh!

Those I saw always disappear too fast. Gone before I could say anything except, “oh shit!” I have a feeling the star heard that anyway and made it happen anyway. Oh shit. : (

Yes I do. Every time I see one. Hasn’t worked yet. We are still at war.

No. I’ve only seen 1 falling star, ever, and was so taken aback that I was finally seeing a falling star that I forgot to make a wish until it was 30 minutes later. And now I live in the city, where I’m lucky if I can make out the Big Dipper, so the chances of me seeing more falling stars is fairly low.

trailsillustrated's avatar

Yes I do. Each and everytime I see one.. I will never stop wishing on a star…

Bellatrix's avatar

I’ve never seen one. I will send out a wish that I see a falling star.

No, but, I can see them almost every night up here in my hills star gazing in my hot tub. :-)
I am so spoiled living in a mountain community with amazing star gazing, it is so wierd for me when I travel to big cities and realize there are no stars visible.
The most amazing place I have ever seen for stars was in the middle of the Nevada desert, makes my part of the sky look pale even with all the stars visible here.
