Ok, so I went shopping today. As usual it is something I dread but must be done. I realized that when I bought my underwear, (not bras, because that is way to difficult a process unless you find your usual brand) which was socks and panties, that I was so happy about my purchase. When I got home I had to show my husband and go on and on about how soft and well made they were. LOL My husband just laughed and thinks I’m a weirdo. I’m usually not like this with purchases unless I got a real good deal. I’m the same way with soft PJ’s.
1.I don’t know why, but the thought of soft clothing on my skin always makes me happy.
2.Is it a sensation thing, or comfort or both?
3.Or is it that for most of my life I was usually buying these things for someone else?
4.Would it make you happy if someone close to you bought you soft undergarments?

Oh, shoot. You had my hopes up, and then dashed them: You’re happy when you buy underwear. I thought you were happy when I bought underwear.
@Cwotus, I’m sure someone is happy. LOL Thanks for letting me know about the error. All fixed now.
Hello then, fellow weirdo.
I too, get really happy when I get new undies or bras.
I get happy when I purchase any new clothing, especially shirts and pants.
I have it with new pairs of socks.
When I was young(er) I told myself that whenever I would get rich I would like to wear a fresh, new pair of socks every day.
Just bought two pairs last Monday.
So much. They’re so clean, and new, and without any stretching or holes or rips or tears or stains or general wear. Socks, panties, and pjs. (You’re right about bras, it’s a much harder process and generally a pain in the butt).
@Aethelflaed A wise older man once told me, after seeing some holes in my sock: “Blackberry, socks are not souvenirs…..”
Meaning that we shouldn’t really have to wait until they have holes and tears lol.
I hate buying underwear. In fact, my mother has purchased most of my underwear as an adult as gifts for my birthday or Christmas. She is currently 87 and just gave me underwear for my most recent birthday.
What will I do when she passes on?
This question seemed so girlie… then I remembered what a rush it is to have new socks.
I get happy when I get the coupon in the mail every month from Victoria’s Secret for a free pair of panties.
I love buying new panties! Bras are another story…
I love new underclothes! Everything from panties to bras to socks, you name it it is a great feeling!
Can someone please tell me why buying bras is a pain?
No, you are not. I love purchasing underwear, too. It makes me feel amazing. :)
I get the best deals on underwear at Salvation Army and Goodwill.
I love it when SO’s have bought new “underwear” or I bought them new “underwear”
I love buying new underwear.
Buying new knickers gets me giddy too. It’s the feel of the fabrics as well as the construction I get excited about enough to share the madness with my husband who is a tactile person also. I like that he shares the madness and knows where to find the right fabric and style of pj’s & knickers in order to gift me every so often. While I’m frugal for most clothing purchases, undergoodies are the exception.
@MilkyWay I think some women consider buying bras a pain because it can be tough to find a bra that fits well, is comfortable, and provides the support they need. Being less well endowed than most I do not have this problem.
Absolutely not weird! Or I am too! New knickers… colours, shapes, lace, no lace… fun ones, sexy ones, comfy ones… how could one not love buying knickers!
Bras….you are right. Not so much fun. Can be pretty and lovely. Can be an ordeal. Spill out the top, spill out the sides. Cups are baggy. Not enough support. Straps too thin. Straps too thick. Weird shape. Weird fit. How much?????????????? Nasty material.
I love it too! I love Jockey string bikinis. They are so sexy but comfortable. Jockey is very conservative about doing new colors and prints so whenever I see a new style I get so excited. The latest was little tiny black polka dots on white cotton. I used to work in the lingerie business. You guys make me feel like I should go back to it. Women do like to spoil themselves with new underwear. It’s an affordable luxury. But do you like to buy sexy nightgowns too? I love designing sexy nightwear but it seems like too many women like to sleep in tshirts….:( there’s more to life than being comfortable, I think, after all, how long does a sexy nightgown stay on? Does it really need to be comfortable????
^ I like sexy nightgowns, but I’m not brave enough to buy them yet…... :(
I like sexy nightgowns, too, but I can’t find anyone to wear them for me.
Oh yes, I get really excited about buying new panties! Whether I’m shopping at Walmart or Victoria’s Secret, I love underwear shopping as much as I love shoe shopping and purse shopping.
I wonder if it has maybe something to do with being conditioned for school as children. You would get excited buying necessary items once a year in bulk to last the year. In August we would go shopping and buy all new underwear and shoes and school supplies as well as clothes. Only clothing was usually something we would buy all year as the season changed. Only undergarments and pjs for winter where usually purchased at the same time. So I wonder if maybe that feeling of starting something new has clung to underwear purchases.
Then again I have always love anything soft. I did get a maltese. . And I know a lot of people who love to pet his fur and comment more than once how soft he is like I didn’t hear it the first time. So I’m sure it may have mostly to do with being a tactile person.
As a person with over 400 pairs of underwear, I can say I enjoy it too much. I buy them in every style, color, and fit. I have a pair to match every outfit and then some.
Okay… this is like being at a banquet table and watching everyone else having dessert and you don’t have a plate!
Tomorrow, I will go buy nice, new, soft undies! I too love new undies.
@MilkyWay Finding a bra in my size that’s the fit I like is frustrating and expensive!
