I’m watching Silence of the Lambs and the prisoner housed beside Hannibal Lecter apparently died of swallowing his own tongue. How does one manage to do that?

It can turn so far back that you choke on it, I’m not sure you can swallow it completely!
Maybe if it has ketchup on it? What’s up @KateTheGreat? You are missed, miss. : )
@mazingerz88 Not much here, barely around the web much anymore.
I’ve been trying for a while now, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t do it.
The tongue can obstruct the airway, but this is in cases like seizures or if you pass out and stuff. (and even then you should worry about choking on bodily fluids and all before anything else) You can’t swallow your own tongue. It’s attached to the floor of your mouth, which makes swallowing it impossible.
The only way I can see of swallowing your own tongue is if you severed that bitch off and then swallowed it lol.
Don’t people do that when they have seizures? I feel like thats where it comes from.
You don’t swallow it, but you can defintiley choke on it.
