At a certain time of the season, when I walk along the beach I can find a clam in the sand but other times I cannot. Can someone tell me at what time I can find clams? Do they have a season?

Tell me where you live and I will Google and find the info you want.
Clams are found where fresh water (rivers) and salt water (oceans) meet. As the tide goes out, they are near the surface under the sand, and you will first notice holes in the sand from where they have squirted. Clam harvesters dig at these sites with shovels into large colanders, then rinse the sand out with buckets of water. If you’re planning on eating such clams be sure to read up about the many important issues involved:
Legality: Fish and Wildlife departments regulate when it is legal to dig for clams. Many municipalities require purchase of a permit.

Health: Many diseases can be transmitted by contaminated clams including Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) and Neurotoxic Shellfish Poisoning (NSP) which are every bit as bad as they sound.

Sometimes at the seashore, I can see them and dig them up. It is a beach in Trinidad.
