Audio Technicians: Would you recommend mixing in GarageBand?

I want to mix and produce my own sounds, and get it mastered by a pro. Is there a problem by using GarageBand? So far for me the negatives are the cheesy sound effects as it pertains to Reverb and Echos when compared to the power of Logic but GarageBands friendliness is what I really dig. Let me know your best observation! I’m merely using acoustic with guitar and I love the sound of cheap to an extent but would love to have the mastering of a true pro that requires money.

I;m not a specilist but basic crap in a mac (hardware and software) wont give high def quality.
There is only one product my husband would ever use and that is Reason. It is a somewhat expensive software set, but well worth the money. He bought his first set and then became a beta tester for them. They sent him new releases for free as payment. He was such a good tester, they offered him a job, but he had to turn it down because we weren´t going to move to Sweden. (and his present job pays more and sends him all over the world so he doesn’t have to sit home and deal with his family on a daily basis…)
My husband is also a qualified sound technician, so I think he is quite aware of products on the market and their quality.

Do you mean “mix and produce” sounds, or music? Garage Band works great for getting a composition together, working out the bugs… Take the finished composition to the studio musicians for hire after working it out. Then it can be “mastered by a pro”.
Garage Band can be a great tool for personal work. Consider it a Proof of Concept utility.
GarageBand is perfectly fine. As for effects, It can use all the same VSTs and AUs that other DAWs can. Just get yourself a good ribbon mic to record acoustic.
A lot of Top albums have just been recorded with a mic and 4-track tape recorder.
I do my recordings in GB, masterized on Protools. But that’s just me. I love the mic processors that came with GB
