Have you ever met a normal person with the same name as a celebrity, either from a book or from real life?

Without thinking too hard, two come to mind. I’ve met Emily Dickinson and Bucky Dent.

I used to have a financial adviser named Eddie Murphy, I went to college with a young woman named Sharon Stone, there are others but those are the ones I remember right at the moment.

I know a Jane Ayre – and yes, she married into the name!

One of my roommates has the same name as the frontman in some screamo band.

I’ve met Oscar Mayer, Benjamin Moore, and Mary Reilly. My mom knew Elsie Borden.

My Physical therapist is Brian Adams.
A kid I know is named James Dean.
I went to school with Jennifer Lopez.
I know there are more, but I can’t think of them right now.

Worked with a guy at McDonalds (as a teenager) named Bryan Adams. Poor guy got more “summer of 69” jokes than actual conversation.

I’ve met a Matthew Perry.

I was once friends with a guy named Peter Jennings.

I work with someone called Fiona Bruce (who is also a news reader/celebrity here in the UK). I of a know of a boy called Harry Potter. I also know a Sally Phillips who is a British comedy actress.

A girl I went to high school with, named Robin, married her high school sweetheart, Adam Hood. So she became Robin Hood. Cute name, I thought!

Yes. My real name (which is not EL BANDITO) is actually the name of a famous TV personality. I must get asked three times a day, “did you know there is a TV guy by your name?”

Believe me, it gets old… quickly…

I know a guy called Matt Smith, but he is neither an actor nor a timelord.

@downtide There was a guy I used to go to school with called Matt Smith too, wasn’t the nicest person ever, but I’m sure he had a good heart.

High school classmate named Marilyn Munroe, long blonde hair. Teachers when new year started said “you’ve got to be kidding” ...different spelling of surname didnt soften reaction, but she was a good sport about it.

I worked for a specialty beer distributor named Stephen King who had no clue who the author Stephen King was even though it was brought up to him a great deal.

My husband has the name of famous actor, but he was born first! I cannot give his name though. Lots of people joke about it.

Nah, but I had a friend named Chris. His mother’s last name was Rock. He got his last name from his dad, but we always talked about how hilarious it would have been had he got his mother’s last name somehow. Chris Rock. Lol.

I love that we’re distinguishing “normal” from “celebrity”!! Yes, I’ve known several: Bill Gates, Tom Kruse (the normal guy’s spelling), Jeff Bridges, and a few that I can’t recall offhand.
