Can I have some information on this chemistry question?

Asked by emeraldisles (1949points) February 4th, 2012

Is a solution that absorbs heat from its ennvironment called an endothermic process? Is a solution that lets heat escape into the environment called an exothermic process? I’m confused by this and would appreciate an example of each process or on how I can determine which is which

We don’t do homework here , as you know, but consider the prefixes of the two terms- exo- is outward; endo- is inward. And thermo is heat.

A Endothermic example would be a ice cube melting. A Exothermic one would be making a ice cube.

It’s actually a physics question, but very commonly addressed in chemistry classes.
