Papa John’s? Are you joking? NY has so much good pizza, Papa John’s is fake crap! Go to the Bronx, go to Manhattan, there are good pizza parlors all over. Papa John’s, Dominos, chain pizza parlors don’t even compare.

I don’t know where you’re from, but I have a friend from upstate New York (I’m from right near the Bronx), and we were at a conference around Albany, and she had told me Papa John’s had the best pizza (people upstate think Olive Garden has the best Italian food so that should have been a hint). I was very excited to go to Papa John’s and try it out. It was gross, like Dominos – bready crust, nasty sauce, gross. Does not compare to real pizza!

@Eggie A franchise chain? That’s like saying Olive Garden is great Italian food.

I’m going to hazard a guess that you’re young yet and haven’t begun to develop and refine your food palate yet.

So I’m going to share a gem with you. Consider it wisely, Grasshopper.

After you put “best pizza” into their search, an entire world will open up to you. They even have a blog called “Slice” if the other articles don’t give you enough choices.

Likewise for clam chowder and any other NY food item.

But even tho they’re based in NYC, they do write about other areas. They also have a weekly synopsis which they email if you subscribe.

They aren’t obnoxious with spam either. I’m on their list and the most I’ve ever gotten is precisely ONE email per week.

You’ll have more decisions to make about pizza and clam chowder than you ever thought possible.

And don’t forget to stop by Katz Deli. To be in NY and pass it by would surely be the unpardonable sin.

Enjoy.

Papa John’s? Really? Good heavens!

Get a slice of cheese pizza at a hole-in-the-wall place. (Such as Joe’s in the Village.)

Try Lombardi’s (nothing by the slice) in Soho for some really authentic NY pizza. Or Artichoke Basilles Pizza and Brewery for a great slice.

Brooklyn has the best pizza. Fact.

Brooklyn, the Bronx – the best pizza is always a matter of opinion but I bet very few opinions would choose Papa John’s!

Everyone knows it’s Grimaldi’s. Lombardi’s is a close second, and Totono’s is third.
Who is Papa John?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@zigmund Get a Papa John pizza and take it into any of the your first three places you mentioned and try having a taste test with the cutomers there. It’s a chain like Domino’s or Pizza Hut.

According to Food Wars, it’s a match between Grimaldi’s and John’s of Bleecker.

Been to both. It’s like deciding which of your children you love the most.

Dude if you are digging on Papa Johns then I would urge you to try Dominos Pizza also, that shit is the best shit or….you could try Di Fara or Escape from New York.

@judochop Props for mentioning Di Fara.

Forget about “the best”. It won’t make you feel good.

What about “a great” pizza?
