Fluther seems very slow, at least to me. Is it?

Slow as in retarded ?
The servers seem busy even with the lack of activity
It feels slow to me, too.
I came here to ask the exact same Q so it’s definitely NOT your imagination.
@everephebe
Slow as in: taking much longer than usual to move from one Q or PM to another.
Like molasses in January.
But it’s Feb. , so what’s up with the slothlike response?
Trying to figure out if I should just quit for now and come back tomorrow.
Somebody give us the 411 please? Call HQ? (if it even still exists)
Hey, somebody Tweet about it. I’m unfamiliar with the logistics so hope someone else gets results from Twitter.
Waiting..,.,
There was an incident with our new server provider (Rackspace), and they had to restart our database server.
It may take a bit to catch up with the caches, but my guess is it will be back to normal it a couple hours.
Thanks Ben.
Catch ya later alligator.
Ah, information asked and answered. Thanks, Ben!
It faceplanted on me earlier tonight. I think it’s going through a rough patch, you know, missing Bendrew.
@jca Yes, I applaud your imagination, but am forced to concur with you, notwithstanding of all things imagined, this is real.
8am GMT (midnight PST) and it’s still slow to the point of unuseability for me. All other websites working fine.
2:04 MST and iffy for making edits.
4:15AM, EST. Still slow. :(
12:20 GMT+1
SuperduperfantastiJelliciousfastimus!
Still a bit sloggy at 7:30 AM EST, but that may be me. ‘Cept my other tabs are speedy.
I recall my answer.
She is slow (again?) for me too.
14:12 GMT+1
I thought it was just me being click happy and making for a slower response. It’s still slow today.
It’s running fairly fast for me @ 6:37 AM PST.
Sure, for you left-coasters! Still sloggy for me. Must be the extra 3,000 miles it has to go.
It took 43 seconds to load this page….
Fluther just went down for maintenance for a few minutes and following that it took awhile to load this quip.
I seem to be seeing fluctuations in the processing speed. This post loaded fast.
Edit and test: this addendum also loaded with appreciable speed.
On this edit I got an “unable to talk to server” notice.
2 pm EST on Tuesday 2/7/12 and it’s still slower than usual.
Hmm, hasn’t been slow for me, but sounds like something’s still up. I’ll look into it more this evening and see if I can figure out what’s going on.
It took me about a minute to connect to this profile, whereas I was instantly connected to @jca‘s profile.
I’m getting very poor service, every time I click on answer or a new question, it takes forever to load. 12:50 PST
4 pm EST and still annoyingly slow.
Very slow for me. I thought it was just me, until I saw this posted…
Thanks @jca.
Last night I gave up.
Yeah man, this site is goin at it slug style. Sometimes it won’t load things at all. Still slow right now.
There’s definitely something wrong. Yesterday and today, Fluther simply crashes on me again and again. It’s an exercise in frustration to use the site the past two days. Loyal jellies will hang in there, but imagine all the random visitors who will give up on the site if this continues for another day or two.
I had to refresh the page 5 times just to get this answer to post.
It’s now going fast for me, but I wonder how consistent the improvement will be.
Ben said in a couple hours…
*20 hours pass *
Seriously? Still slow :(.
Right now it’s doing a little better. Clicking around the site generally works like it always did, although there are a few hiccups. Trying to submit an answer though, it takes forever.
It is slow for me. Tuesday, February 7, 2034 hours.
24 hours later, still slow, still annoying as shit.
Yes, raising hand here too!
INCREDIBLY slow here! It is 6:48pm PST 2–7
Bah!
35 seconds for ^ to post.
Sooo, just had a 35 second delay, then one second, then 3 seconds, then back to an all time high of 1 min. 8 seconds! Wowie, trouble in paradise. lol
Way too slow for me to stay and do anything. See you in the AM, Fluther.
1½ minutes to load this question.
just wanted to join the party here. it’s a commercial break during The River. oh, it’s back on now. bye!
Tues., Feb. 7 at 11:00 PM. Still too slow to use now.
Hey hey, seems to be back to normal.
THAT’S RIGHT I FOUND OUT FIRST! LURVE ME BIATCHES
It is a day later and I’m having a difficult time posting some of my responses and handing out lurve. In my 2+ years on here I think that this is the first time I’ve experienced this on here. I didn’t log in on here the day this question was asked but it is slow for me today on 2/7/12.
So… Slow…
I can’t do anything….
Edit: 23 sec. to post this.
Our new hosting provider isn’t making a great impression.
STILL like molasses in January.
@XOIIO is absolutely right.
This is not due to any failure of Bendrew. They are at the mercy of the immense suckage of the hosting company.
Hey Ben, whip those nitwits into shape here. You guys have the power of the almighty Twitter backing you up. Use it :)
Why don’t we all start Tweeting about this and light a fire under that company’s ass ?
A little negative publicity worked wonders for the guy with the broken guitar which American Airlines caused and ignored. Remember that anyone?
Hmm… yeah, I’m seeing some intermittent slowness, and I think it may be our load balancer. Restarting that right now, we’ll see if that fixes the problem.
You are being SO reasonable about all of this. Not as much fun as storming the barricades but that’s why we all lurve you guys the way we do :)
@ben: I too find that life is better when I work on my load balancer.
The man is dedicated. Much appreciated @ben!
Well, my last post took a spectularly incredible amount of time to post. Spinning circle, anyone?
Let’s see how long this one takes.
Wow, I was blaming our IP.
Ok, I think 1 of our 3 webservers was acting wonky, so for the last couple days every click had a 33% chance of being super slow. I just restarted it, and it appears like things are back to normal.
Let me know if issues are continuing… sorry about that.
Good to hear. I was worried that our traffic was being misdirected to the load unbalancer. ;-o
Zing! Zinging again..for now anyway. :-)
Oh well no chanting tonight. I was kinda looking forward to the refrain of:
Attica,....... Attica,...... Attica. Stomp stomp stomp.
Sigh. Remembering the good old days.
* Y * A * Y * back to normal.
It’s so nice to know that you guys are really on the ball tonight (and usually all the time)
That was practically an instantaneous response.
Thanks, Ben
Dude, sweet. The site’s all ninja style again. ^^
@ben – That’s great! Back to warp 6 again!
I was suspecting you use a back-end SQL server, and that was acting wonky since everything worked fine until you actually tried to load a question or post an answer.
Looks all back to normal from here. Well done @ben.
