For Honda civic dx owners I have a 94 Honda civic dx manual transmission sometimes I have to go into first and pull forward a wee bit before going in reverse. Does anyone have to do this with there Honda?

I used to own a ‘89 Civic LX, with manual transmission, and at one point, it did what you’re describing; if I recall, the situation worsened as the clutch/clutch plate began to fail (a ~$300 repair back ten years ago); if I were in your shoes, I would have that checked out by a certified Honda mechanic, before you run into major transmission problems (better safe than sorry).
I don’t know much about the history of the ‘94 model, but there may possibly be a defect there and a recall you may not be aware of-worth looking into at the very least.
My fiesta is a manual and sometimes it won’t go all the way in to reverse and I just let it roll a tiny bit, then it will. I could easily be wrong, but it feels like something has to line up for it to go in to reverse.
yeah, I think this is something across all manual cars. I have an ‘04 Mazda3 that I have to do that with, so you’re not alone!
I’m a Honda guru. Normal, don’t worry about it.
my 94 requires me to double klutch in to reverse.
thank you for all the great answers
no problem vbarton; good luck with that!
my 98 civic did that too!! maybe just a Honda thing.
glad to know it appears normal across the board
