Believe it or not, this Nancy Pelosi video has gone viral on YouTube. For the serious-minded among our Jelly population, it’s humor, floks. It’s joining in with Colbert’s satirical criticism of the Citizens United decision that Corporations are people and money is speech. But it’s dead serious message is about getting vast special-interest money back out of politics. I think that message is fundamental to preserving liberty itself. If Citizens United is allowed to stand as is, we will soon be a pure corporatocracy. The only “people” who will have any real voice in how we are governed will be the largest of multinational corporations. And since a corporate CEO’s job is to maximize profits, these “people” will use government policy to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else.
What say you? How can we take our democracy back?

Knowing him, I’m assuming that Colbert himself is behind the “stop colbert” movement, so in that sense, yeah. Count me in.
But having Pelosi leading the charge? Ha ha ha ha ha ha
Irony at its finest :)
@Buttonstc You call it irony, I call it “Fucking hilarious!”.
I think that the whole situation shows that sometimes the only way to fight something is not to oppose it, but to accelerate/amplify it. This video highlights that by calling attention to how the GOP’s own tactics are being used against them, only in an over-the-top manner that borders on self-parody.
With that in mind, I have to agree that Colbert is probably behind the movement to stop himself.
Hey, maybe if we cut the tax rate to 0% and caused teh government to collapse, crime to run rampant due to a lack of police, the military is disbanded, infrastructure (especially roads) to fail, etcetera, then maybe Conservatives would stop bitching about everybody expecting government handouts!
@Buttonstc That’s exactly what it is. It’s Colbert’s way of highlighting the idiocy of the Supreme Corporatist’s Citizens United decision.
@jerv I’m reasonably certain Colbert is behind the “Stop Colbert” movement. :-)
In the early stages of developing his Pac, he was going over the details regarding what must be disclosed vs. what is immune and it was pretty unbelievable. Accelerate in order to oppose is right.
@Jerv it really is hilarious.
@ET
Isn’t he the one who joked that “I refuse to believe that. a corporation can be a person until Texas actually executes one”
He really is a freakin’ genius.
