What's the poop on Dr. Bronner's company "All-One-God-Faith, Inc." anyway?

You know, the guy behind “Doctor Bronner’s 18-in-1 Pure Castille Soap.”
Is he really a “Master chemist and Essene rabbi?”

He actually died in 1997, leaving the business to his family. He was pretty flaky, even institutionalized for awhile, but I’ve met his descendants who are running the operation now and they’re pretty normal folks. They maintain the kooky labels on the products because that’s become so integral to the brand, but they’re not philosophically invested in that creed, as far as I could tell.
The company is based out of Escondido, California, I think – just south of me. They’ve always used the same crazy labels with 6-point type.
All I can say from personal experience is don’t get the peppermint soap
in your eyes.
I received a bottle of the peppermint soap as a gift. I thought it could be used as body wash…poured a good amount on a sponge and proceeded to wash my body as usual. Let me just tell you, that was the first and last time I used it for that. I now use it to clean my bathtub and floors. It’s very powerful stuff.
Sundance Channel had an excellent documentary about Dr. Bronner on just last year. It was highly entertaining as well as informative. It’s worth checking out.
I watched that documentary too. Dr. Bronner was one kooky fellow, but endearing, and very sincere. Highly eccentric. Worth watching, that documentary.
I heard that he died. Great question by the way!
I have been using theses soaps for years. My first time I believe was back in 1998. I love them and will continue to use them. My only problem now is that I moved to North Carolina in 2002 and I can’t find the products here. I have to count on my family coming down to visit to bring me some or when I go back for a visit can anyone help and tell me where to find it here I live in Zebulon, NC a skip from Raleigh.
Go onto the Dr. Bronner’s website and check out his history. He was quite the guy. From an old German Jewish soap-making family, parents killed at Auschwitz, educated with a degree in chemistry and a Master’s rating in soapmaking from the German guild. He was self-educated in the Essene faith, which is the pantheistic, occult branch of Judaism (Kaballah is part of this)He was considered a madman because of his extreme anti-war stance. He opposed fascism and communism, loathed big government, and they tried to brainwash him and failed. His family continues to make the best soap products in the world, in an all organic, anti-corporate, charitable business that is a model for progressive industry. You gotta love them.
I need to replenish my supply of Bronner’s Seasoning, Barleymalt Sweetner, and Bronner’s Ezymes, please send me a price list.
