I have acne scars on places like my nose and forehead that have never went away and are beginning to bother me. What kind of products can I purchase that will help get rid of them?

Neosporin has pretty much healed every scratch, scar I’ve had.

Shea butter is pretty much the best for scars.

Neosporin has helped a lot of my scars. :)

Ive always thought that Neosporin was more injury related scarring, does it work the same for Acne scars? I was also recommended Vitamin E Oil and Coco Butter, has anyone ever used those?

@JesusWasAJewbot Neosporin is petroleum jelly with some antibiotics, for if the wound is open; if there’s no open wound it’s not any better than regular Vaseline. Vit E and cocoa butter are also really good (though, I still think shea butter is just a smidge better than vitamin E or cocoa butter).

Treatment products such AHA or BHA that increases cell turnover. Just be sure to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen to prevent further hyperpigmentation. Although everyone should always wear sunscreen anyway.

There are a lot of glycolic products that could work. It’s sort of like a light laser treatment in a bottle. If does basically burn the top layer of your skin so do a test area before you do your whole face to see how sensitive you are. It does sting and the stronger the concentration the more it will burn. You might even peel but it does work.
A milder treatment, (but it takes longer to see results) is to use a salycilic acid tonor like this. These are all harsh treatments but should really help. I had acne really bad when I was younger but you would never know it now

Neosporin, and other ointments help during the healing process. Once the scar is there you would need to alter the surface cells either with laser, exfoliation (AHA’s or manual like a clarisonic brush or exfoliate cleansers) or some other process that affects the collagen.

If it is redness that is making the scar more visible, the redness should fade over time. The products you can use for scar reduction that they sell in the drug store helps with redness also, but doesn’t really help reduce the actual scar way after the fact.

A dermatoligist can give you advice and prescribe something.

Glycolic or salicylic acid peels work well, cost little and have little peeling involved.
