I know how some people give up after a month or so, but I was wondering if anyone had lasted this long.

I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions. They never work. But, I do like the idea that Tom Peters had. Using inspirational quotes, rather than mission statements.
My quote for this year is: Make it (what I already have) Work.
I like your take on that. I might have to try that myself.
I didn’t make any, but I like wildflower’s idea.
I completed mine. I turned a pizza into a burrito. Set the bar really low and you can succeed.
Mine was to increase my use of fluther. I have succeeded and will continue to do so.
I haven’t eaten fast food for over 5 months, and I feel GREAT!
How did you feel before? What have you replaced it with? Are you exercising as well?
Before I felt fat, lazy and oily.
I’ve also started a strict workout regimen which includes a of of cardio(I guess that was a resolution too)
I love fruits and vegetables, so it was easy for me to fond a replacement snack. My favorite things to eat when I have a craving are cucumbers and carrots.
I know its working so well because last November I weighed nearly 170lbs and felt horrible, but now I weigh 153lbs and can run a few miles like nothing.
@johnpowell: That’s awesome! How did you get it to work, and how big was the pizza?
I actually made my resolution the 30th of December so it wouldn’t be of the “New Year’s” variety. I’ve been able to stick with it and it’s been almost 5 months.
On 12/31, I was drunk and I smoked a cigarette (my first because I succumbed to peer pressure) and it made me ill. A few hours later I made my resolution – no more cigarettes. I haven’t had one yet and I really don’t even want one.

January 1, I renewed my daily meditation practice. I committed to meditate every day for 30 days, and I did so.
Oh, my commitment was to sit for a minimum of 5 minutes. I usually sat longer than that, but setting the bar low really helped, just like johnpowell said.
@Trustinglife I’m trying to motivate myself to get meditation in everyday and I think your example has just given me a way to get it going. Thanks!
