I was perusing my Questions For You and had 30 odd. I went in to read one question and when I went back to my Questions For You they were all gone with the exception of one. What happened?

Actually, when questions reach a certain number of answers they drop out of the ‘Questions for You’ section. It seems to happen at this time of day for me too so I think it must be programmed into the system. I have heard other people say they have heaps and heaps of questions and I can’t explain that, but I have asked @augustlan about this myself.

Off to delete other people’s questions now :D

When the midnight hour hits the server, the previous day’s questions evaporate.

Yep, it’s because they dropped off due to either receiving x number of answers, or having sat there for x amount of time. I can never remember the actual values for the ‘x’. << Bad manager!

Mine drop off every day @Adirondackwannabe. That is what I was alluding to in my post. Some jellies seem to have hundreds, so theirs are not dropping off? No idea. I usually end up with a handful at the end of the day.

@Bellatrix If you open one, it drops off your list immediately. If you don’t open it it stays on your list until you delete it.

No, mine drop off even if I don’t open them. I often don’t get around to reading them. Why yours don’t is my question.

@Adirondackwannabe The limit is 1000. I haven’t touched my Questions for You for at least 2 years now and they have been stuck at 1000. The number never changes. I remember johnpowell mentioning he was stuck at 1000 too.

@Bellatrix Well, I’m pure of heart and soul, so I get to keep mine. Pfffft. No idea.

Yep, mine was stuck at 1000, too. Then I cleaned house and dumped those suckers. Now I clean it regularly.

I think we’re seeing confusion here between “Questions for You” (channeled to you because of your interests and past activity), which will disappear if you ignore them, and “Activity for You,” which is questions you’re following and threads you’ve posted to, and which will stick around until you dump them.

No. No confusion. “Questions for you” will go to 1000 if not deleted.

Mine drop off every day in the early evening. I wonder why some people’s stay and others don’t?

My “Questions for You” drop off between 11 p.m. and midnight every day. I never have more than about a dozen at a time.

But “Activity for You” stays until I shut it off. At one point I got up to more than 300, but now I try to keep a maximum of about 60.

Thanks—yes, actually, a daffodil “overhead hat.” I took it off this guy. He put up a fight, but I had a small troupe of zombies with me, and we won.

Depending on how busy I am I’m here every day, other day or every few days. This is the first time I’ve been looking through my list of questions only to have it disappear. This is strange as I’ve had questions sit under that link for days and days in the past. I’ve had questions in that list that I haven’t read that have tens of answers.

Although I understand why the programming is set up to clean up that link every once in a while I think cleaning it up every day is a little extreme. I really don’t have time to look through all the questions in Social, General and Meta and I do depend on the programming to whittle it down to the questions I may be interested in.

Mine really varies. sometimes in accrues up in to the hundreds and sometimes there are few and then they’re gone. Ah – sweet mystery of Fluther!

@Adirondackwannabe I’m not quite sure because I don’t even look at my Questions for You. That’s why I’m stuck at the 1000 limit. I only use Activity for You, then I look in the General, Social and Meta questions for questions I might want to answer.

@Bellatrix I wonder why some people’s stay and others don’t? I can’t remember when the change was made to clean up the Questions for You. It’s been over a year, that I’m sure. I’m thinking those of us who never mess with Questions for You had well over the limit of 1000 questions, then once the change was made any questions over the 1000 limit are dropped, but the number of questions stays at 1000 as long as we don’t delete them ourselves. (does that make sense?) I’ve had 1000 Questions for You for over a year now. The number never fluctuates for me.

I wish I had a firm answer for you, but sometimes the way the site works is a mystery to me, too. :(

Wow, I just lost 8 questions. Huh?

Yep…it just did it again. The 6 I had were just replaced by 3 new questions.

Going to email the guys about this, and see if there’s a bug.

I had 18 last night. I have 9 this morning. Who’s the evil jelly that pointed this out?
