Can I apply for my mother's social security death benefit 2 years after her death?

You can apply, but the form could be rejected. It doesnt hurt to try, unless there are legal pitfalls I am unaware of
I believe there are time restrictions on how late you can apply for social security death benefits. For my late husband, it was 2 years. I was too late to file and therefore was denied. In your situation, I’m not exactly sure but you could possibly call them to find out. They have a website and a 1 800 number.
I would apply but it’s not very much, like $250 or something, unless you are under 18, then your guardian will get benefits for your care.
