What are 100 reasons not to commit suicide?
No, suicide and the thought of suicide is not a problem here. But, for those of you that have thought about committing suicide, we would like to give you 100 reasons for not committing suicide.
Question: for those of you that have thought about committing suicide, myself and your friends on Fluther are about to give you 100 reasons why you want to live. I will start the list. Will you kindly add your reason for not wanting to committ suicide?

2. I want to see what tomorrow brings.
3. I want to go to Nava’s (my great-niece’s) 2 year old birthday brunch on Sunday.
I want to know what happens next.
We’re an hour into a 2-hour movie. How could I possibly leave now? Damn, I don’t even want to go get popcorn.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Because if you kill yourself, you are likely to devastate someone else’s life (most likely your parents, children and siblings and significant others) and then then one or more of those people may ultimately end up killing themselves too. Suicide is a vicious cycle that effects many more people than just the original person contemplating suicide.
#8 You will ruin that day for all whom love and care about you, because you will have stained that day with a bad memory.
Because I know nothing and have experienced essentially nothing. It would criminal for me to have the opportunity of existence, only to say, “naaah…I’ll pass”.
Because you’re most likely to really regret it if you fail the attempt.
Because most things that hurt now won’t hurt so badly in five, ten years.
Because I want to meet my grandchildren.
BTDT
Because life will eventually get better.
Suicide equals quitting. Things will not always go the way you want, but that’s where the fun is-finding the different roads to explore. In other words if the reason to suicide is based on economic downturn-there’s always a window open-climb through it, if it’s a broken relationship-the promise of a better one is on the horizon, or if fear is a problem-there are people to talk to. Life’s too short and too potentially wonderful-to not hold onto it with your teeth.
Don’t quit 5 minutes before the miracle happens.
Because we wouldn’t be us without you.
You can’t let that money in the bank and food in the pantry go to waste.
I don’t want to stop loving, learning, and growing.
You’ll eventually die anyway. Why hasten it?
I won’t put that on my kids to live with.
Because it might not work.
What if you try, and it doesn’t work..and you end up like a vegetable?
#27. Everyone you care about and those who care about you will forever be changed. You will shower a sorrow over them that will never go away. Knowing that sometimes will not stop it. Suicide happens when the hurt of staying is worse than the hurt of going.
The love of a beautiful woman.
pfft, I only need to give you two

It might not be successful, you might end up disabled/in pain.

Discovering new songs like “Set Fire to the Rain” (I just found Adele, a bit late I know) and rediscovering old music…
Oh what does it mean…. to a daydream believer…. and a homecoming queen…
Nobody looks good in a casket. No way, no how. Think about that image for your survivors.
Another reason. You might get a chance to offer words of encouragement to a penguin.
How are you doing lady? Hang in there.
Another reason: The chance to have caring online friends!
@Adirondackwannabe Hanging in but sometimes by my flippertips only.
@janbb I think you’re tougher than I am. You’re bouncing back faster than I could. I’d be curled up in the corner still. You’re amazing.
there are those times too but I seem to be a tough old bird.
@janbb Perfectly understandable. One day at a time for now.
Late night chats with my son and I agree with @janbb, opportunities to meet online friends!

My son who is witty, talented, and who would be crushed.
And so many other reasons that, just in sheer numbers, would break the immense capabilities of the Web.
@annewilliams5 I like that: …in sheer numbers, would break the immense capabilities of the Web.
Because you never know when you are going to be absolutely splendiforously happy again!

Because I want to change the world one tree at a time.
Because running away might just be a better option.
@linguaphile I love to declutter. I declutter better, admittedly, when I am angry.
@annewilliams5 I agree! Anger’s a good source of fuel and decluttering is a perfect target for that fuel.
To add to the 100 reasons… big old yard or flea market sales!
I have read through these reasons twice now and I find myself still wanting to swallow some lye today.
Because even when you feel like swallowing some lye, there’s always a question on fluther that benefits from your being there to answer it…
Please don’t swallow lye. I did the opposite, drank pipeline cleaner acid when I was 4, it follows you around for a long time if it doesn’t do you in.
I am just having a bad day. I have something to look forward to this weekend and next week, so I am just going to keep my mind on those things and try to be calm.
Have we reached the 100 mark yet?
Piano music makes it all better.
@cazzie Take a long walk followed by a hot bath. Maybe indulge in some chocolate, too.
@SpatzieLover the weather wasn’t conducive to walking today, so I watched TV and I did eat a piece of chocolate. Thank you. I also made jello with my little man and looked online for some Easter crafts we could make together. He wants to blow out eggs and paint them and hang them on a tree. I think we can manage that.
Another reason to live: CRAFTS! Creating things is very therapeutic and much cheaper than therapy. Especially if you can do with children. Very satisfying.
