Do you ever get performance anxiety answering a question first?
I refresh often the 12 kajillion windows I have open on my desktop at once.
I often see great questions prior to other users. I am tempted to jump on them right away, and often do.
So often the first response defines behavior for the whole thread, so I try to wait until another user has a chance.
How often do you pause to let another user answer prior to you jumping in with a response? Is it even a concern for you?

I love to get to answer first.
No. But it’s definitely a different experience when you’re responding to “the question” vs. “the question and all the answers that have followed it”.
I’ve never given it any thought.
no, it’s actually an advantage in that you know you’re not repeating something already said.
Though answering questions with an already bustling thread is also fun because you can get a discussion going and also add to other issues that have popped up.
I love to get to answer first. That way, you’re not repeating what some other jelly (with tons more lurve) has already said.
Nope. I too love to be one of the first few to chime in on a question.
I sometimes hold back, I“m not sure why.
I don’t get a chance to answer first all that often. However, I do hold back occasionally, in the circumstance where I feel like I want to make a joke, but I don’t want to lead off the answers with a joke. See, even I have a heart, on occasion! Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.
Occasionally I will, only because I like to wait and see a few other comments before deciding whether I should give a serious answer or a smartass answer. :D
I would not call this performance anxiety, by the way.
Sometimes I’ll wait, just to see where the discussion is going. Not often, though.
I haven’t really thought about it. I think I just answer things I like the look of whether I am first, last or in the middle. I think those at either end get more lurve though. Especially in very long threads.
“Performance anxiety” is really quite common. It’s nothing to be ashamed of at all.
I don’t mind being first, fifth, or fiftieth.
No, it really is that simple.
A little, but I’m generally an anxious person anyway.
Well, this answer (being responder number twenty) answers the question, I would think.
But I would not have hesitated to answer with this exact answer as answerer number one in this thread.
No. But I’m always terrified to ask a question.
It never even occured to me.
If you are still answering the question after four hours, you might want to call a physician.
Damn! @rojo You made me LOL again for my second question in a row! My jellies are on a roll! A jelly roll!
