Almost never. My last one as last Tuesday, while stopped for gas during a five-hour drive, and I thought to myself: it’s been a long time since I had a candy bar.

“Fast food” kinda depends on how you define it. I never eat, for instance, McDonald’s or that kind of thing. But I’m a big fan of a quick streetmeat, which I do on weekends from a vendor.

I eat at a restaurant at least once a week, sometimes more, depending on my travel schedule.

I probably order food in once a week: typically on a Saturday night. More in winter and crappy weather than otherwise.

I hardly ever eat frozen dinners: my freezer is simply too small.

I almost never eat dessert.

Eat a candy bar? 2–3/year

Eat fast food? Chipotle maybe once a month. Otherwise, never

Eat out at a restaurant? About once a month.

Order food in? About once a month

Eat a frozen dinner? Frozen entrees a couple of times a month.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Maybe once a month.

I never eat candy bars any more after deciding to cut sugar out of my diet but….okay fine I will admit: I had a meet and greet for a new job last night and they had a dish of mini milky ways out, so I ate two.

I eat fast food on average probably once a month. But it depends if you consider pizza fast food. I don’t though.

I eat out almost every day since I work at a restaurant….I just get a salad though, since thats our specialty. I cook the rest of my meals.

I order in once every couple weeks.

Never eat frozen food EVER.

Don’t really eat desserts either, though apple pie is my specialty and I’ve been craving one. Luckily I don’t have to put sugar in to make it delicious so I’m in the clear. But I do sometimes eat frozen cookie dough at work, so there’s that.

Eat a candy bar? Once every few months maybe.

Eat fast food? Not very often.

Eat out at a restaurant? About once a month.

Question: Do frozen vegetables count as a frozen dinner? If so, I do eat frozen veggies pretty regularly.

janbb's avatar

Eat a candy bar: Rarely

Eat candy: Nearly every day – it is a weakness

Eat out at a restaurant: 2–3 times a week

Order food in: Once a month

Eat a frozen dinner: Occasionally

Eat dessert: Maybe once a week

Weight lost: 7 pounds in the last three months

JLeslie's avatar

@cprevite I wasn’t counting frozen veggies, I had hoped writing dinner would make it clear, but it is still not very clear I agree.

Eat a candy bar? – never

Eat fast food? – once or twice a week

Eat out at a restaurant? – maybe once every month or two

Order food in? – average about once a week

Eat a frozen dinner? – very rarely

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? – never, unless fresh fruit counts.

How often do you:

Eat a candy bar? – Probably once a week on average.

Eat fast food? – Maybe once a month (usually do to long trips in the car).

Eat out at a restaurant? Once a month on average, maybe less than that.

Order food in? The only thing we order in is pizza and that’s maybe once every 3 months.

Eat a frozen dinner? It use to be rarely, but I just bought some to take to work to help me stop spending so much at the cafeteria. I was taking leftovers for a while, but lately those have been very unappealing to me.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Probably 3–4 times a week. I love desserts.

Candy bar: once a month, if that.

Eating out: Edit: actually it’s a couple times a week, approximately.

Fast food: once a month, approx.

Order in: never.

Frozen dinner: never.

Dessert food: sparingly. I don’t like cake frosting or cheesecake or anything. And when I have it, I have a few bites. The sugar grosses me out.

Eat a candy bar?
Rarely. And when I do they’re always the fun sized ones.
Eat fast food?
Used to be daily during the week because i’d be too lazy to prep my lunch. But since I gave up meat for lent, I’m forced to cook unless I want bean burritos until easter.
Eat out at a restaurant?
Once or twice a week.
Order food in?
Never. The only delivery here is pizza, and I’d rather pick that up.
Eat a frozen dinner?
Probably once every couple of months.
Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)?
I have to have some sort of dessert/sweet thing at every meal. i’m more of a pie or ice cream person at dinner, but for lunch I’ll have something like applesauce

Is candy bar a chocolate bar or a ‘candy’ bar’?

janbb's avatar

@MilkyWay is a chocolate bar in England.

JLeslie's avatar

For me energy bars are not candy bars. I would include candy in general with candy bars. Anything from a tootsie roll to a Heath bar to a chocolate bar, Hershey’s kisses, Snickers, Caramello, Baby Ruth, Rolos, Cadberry eggs, Butterfinger, Mary Janes, Peanut Chews, Chocolate covered cherries….I love candy.

Eat a frozen dinner?

Eat a candy bar? Maybe three times a year—it’s usually an impulse buy when checking out at the grocery store.

Eat fast food? Maybe twice a month.

Eat out at a restaurant? 7 times a week on average (usually lunch during the work week)

Order food in? At work, a couple times each month. At home, never—I’m too rural to be on any delviery route.

Eat a frozen dinner? Five times a year.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? This varies greatly for me, as my “sweet tooth” seems to cycle a bit. I would say that I’m generally not a dessert eater. We have birthday celebrations in the office, and with my business travel (where dessert seems to be commonplace), I’d say 25 times per year.

JLeslie's avatar

I find it very interesting how few people eat frozen dinners.

Lightlyseared's avatar

Eat a candy bar? Every day.

Eat fast food? Depends what you describe as “fast food”. Macdonalds and the like – never. Places that cook and serve fresh food fast (chinese or japanese noodle bars have this down to a fine art) – nearly every working day.

Eat out at a restaurant? 2 or 3 times a week.

Order food in? About once or twice a month (from the same Indian resteraunt)

Eat a frozen dinner? Never. I don’t own a freezer.

Eat dessert food? Everyday.

Order food in? Every couple of weeks.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Depends. I might make a pie on a whim and have it every night for a few days or a week. I bake maybe once a month.

Eat a frozen dinner? Not even once a month.

@JLeslie: I can’t get past the sodium content in most frozen dinners. I saw one from PF Changs once with over 700mg of sodium.

YARNLADY's avatar

A whole candy bar, never. I take a bite from one once a month or so, and I keep the rest in the refrigerator.

I eat fast food once or twice a month, at a restaurant two or three times a year, eat a frozen dinner once or twice a month, order in three or four times a year.

Coloma's avatar

Candy bar…mmmm, I love Butterfingers, but rarely buy them. I did just have a malted milk easter egg moment the other day. I adore Robins eggs! I also like stale Peeps, but they must be air dried for at least 48 hours. lol

Fast food. Rarely, mostly Taco Bell.

Restaurants, a couple times a month

Order food in, now & then. There is no ordering in out here, it’s take out, take home. lol

Frozen dinners. Once or twice a week on average. I buy Lean Cuisines for those hungry times I don’t want to cook.

Desserts, I keep a stash of tootsie pops around for my sweet tooth. I cannot bring sweets in the house or I will eat them! Ice cream is a hard one, so are cookies and god forbid, pie and cheesecake. I usually allow these when I have company, for an excuse to indulge.

Actually I going out right now to meet a friend for a river picnic at our local park. Tuna sandwiches, nectarines and cheese and crackers are on the menu, then a brisk walk so I can justify those few oh so delicious Tsing Tao beers when I get home. haha :-)

Eat a frozen dinner? I use frozen foods, but no TV dinners.
Eat dessert food? Daily, even if it’s a tablespoon of chocolate bits.
Just curious. Are you keeping track? Is there a scoring system? Will you release your findings? Do I get a star?

Eat a candy bar? Very rarely. I’m not that big on sweets, but every now and then I love a bar called Planters Peanut Bar. It’s kind of like peanut brittle. The only place, recently, that I’ve been able to find them is at CVS.

Eat fast food? Maybe once a week, but not burgers and fries, it’s usually a bean and cheese burrito with a side of spicy carrots from one of the take-out Mexican restaurants. I love Rubios!

Eat out at a restaurant? Maybe once a month, if I’m lucky. It’s just too expensive, although if I was rich, I’d go out to eat 2 or 3 times a week. I love to eat, but luckily I also love to cook. So I don’t feel too deprived. Going to make either a sweet potato chili or mole enchiladas for dinner tonight.

Order food in? Never, that just always seemed weird to me.

Eat a frozen dinner? 3 or 4 times a week, mostly stuff from Trader Joe’s. I also like to doctor up frozen cheese pizzas from Costco with schrooms, broccoli, and sundried tomatoes.

Eat dessert food? Very rarely, I don’t much care for sweets, I’m more of a savory/umami kind of gal. Usually the only time I eat dessert is for Thanksgiving, Christmas or at a family party, so maybe 6 times a year?

WestRiverrat's avatar

Eat a candy bar? Just once, the thought of eating it a second time makes me nauseous.

Eat fast food? Same as above.

Eat out at a restaurant? 2–3 times a year.

Order food in? Never.

Eat a frozen dinner? 2–3 times a week, but only the ones I freeze myself.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? When I get motivated enough to bake. about once every month.

Eat a frozen dinner? a PACKAGED fronzen dinner? Never.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? 3 – 6 times a week, depending on what’s around

Just curious. always

Eat a candy bar? I was probably in middle school the last time I had a candy bar. I don’t really like them.

Eat fast food? Once every three to four months I’ll have Chick-fil-a or Quizno’s. I eat pizza with meat and veggies about once a month.

Eat out at a restaurant? Once every three to four months. We save up to go to nice restaurants that are relatively healthy. We’ll go to a place that either sells Asian food or seafood exclusively.

Order food in? As often as I eat pizza. I ordered Japanese food a few (3 or 4) times last year.

Eat a frozen dinner? Oh geez, not in at least three years. I try my best to keep my sodium intake to a minimum.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Ahh dessert, lately I’ve compressed my desserts into just eating apples with chocolate-hazelnut spread when I get the munchies, which is quite often ;)

annewilliams5's avatar

Eat a candy bar? A whole one? They’re overwhelming. I don’t remember the last time. However @WillWorkForChocolate I have to agree with you about the York Peppermint candies during a movie in a theater, which happens maybe once a year. I like DVD’s

Eat fast food? I have a pancreatic enzyme problem that rears it’s ugly little head every once in a while. I try to not ever do the fast food thing.

Eat out in a restaurant? About once a month. I dig cooking.

Order food in? We live in the middle of positively no where. No one even knows where my town is, much less delivers.

Eat a frozen dinner? I still like to cook. Much better taste. Controls my diet, NA and fat intake. My husband likes my cooking, too.

Eat dessert food? Once in a blue moon a nice slice of homemade apple pie-mmmmmmmm

Okay, this is terrible. But in the interest of honesty, here goes:

Eat a candy bar?
I eat some kind of candy nearly every day.

Eat fast food?
About once a week.

Eat out at a restaurant?
Once or twice a year.

Order food in?
Twice a week.

Eat a frozen dinner?
Stouffers French Bread Pizza, at least every other week.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)?
On the days I don’t have candy, I usually have something else sweet like cookies.

I really hate how much I’ve come to love sugary crap. I used to hardly eat any. What the hell have I become?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Eat a candy bar? Once or twice a year.

Eat fast food? Breakfast 5 days a week. I also eat lunches out a lot, but I often get, like an egg roll at a Chinese place. Does that count as fast food?

Eat out at a restaurant? A sit down restaurant…once a month.

Order food in? Four times a year.

Eat a frozen dinner? Once a week. I buy frozen dinners and keep them in the freezer at work. I eat my last meal of the day before I go home at 4:30. Sometimes it’s food from home, sometimes it’s from the freezer at work.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Um…once a month?

Just curious. Usually curious.

TexasDude's avatar

Eat a candy bar? Never

Eat fast food? Once or twice a week.

Eat out at a restaurant? Two or three times a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Order food in? Rarely.

Eat a frozen dinner? Only on weekends, but not often even then.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Hardly ever.

rooeytoo's avatar

Wow, it is amazing how many healthy people there are on fluther!

I lump candy bars, cake, cokey cola, ice, cream anything containing maximum sugar into the same catagory, and I usually allow myself one of the above 2 or 3 times a week.

If fish and chips is considered fast food then usually once a week, Subway once every couple of weeks. Anything else, hardly ever.

Eat at a restaurant, maybe once a week or every other week. We have just moved into a new area and I am on the lookout for good Vietnamese and Korean restaurants.

We never order food in.

The only time we eat a frozen dinner is if we cooked it and had extra which we froze for a later meal.

Desert as above.

I try to avoid white carbs, we only have rice, potatoes, bread or pasta once or twice a week (that is in addition to fish and chips which is a staple of the Australian diet). Eating this way and running and now playing tennis again, keeps me lean and mean and feeling good.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Decided to order pizza tonight. :D

annewilliams5's avatar

@rooeytoo “healthy people” are sometimes forced to be that way. And yes fish and chips are officially a food group in our house too.

augustlan's avatar

We ordered pizza, too. :)

philosopher's avatar

I eat dark chocolate mini peanut butter cups a few times per week. They are Trader Joes’s own and contain nothing artificial. One is a mouthful.
We eat out every few weeks. Once per week we pick up food from a natural food source.

TexasDude's avatar

Now I want pizza.

Coloma's avatar

@augustlan

Don’t feel bad, sugar is highly addictive, the more you get used to having it the more you crave it.
This holiday season was a killer, I was inundated with goodies for freaking weeks.
I am really proud of myself going mostly sugar free for weeks now again. Terrible addiction, terrible. lol

Facade's avatar

I had pizza for breakfast with my vitamin shake lol

KateTheGreat's avatar

I ate a giant ass Bar of dark chocolate right before writing this answer.

As for fast food and take out, I never eat it. I eat at a restaurant quite often, but it’s a vegan health food restaurant.

Jeruba's avatar

Eat a candy bar: never. But I, um, have a severe weakness for Hershey’s kisses.

Eat fast food: virtually never. Maybe once a year. I’m defining this as McDonald’s-type meals, and the likeliest time is a fast grab when traveling. Pizza is in a different category.

Eat out at a restaurant? Once a month or so.

Order food in: once a month or so. This is where the pizza comes in (literally).

Eat a frozen dinner: can’t remember the last time. It’s been years. But I do use some frozen foods, vegetables mostly. And, you know, ice cream.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.): I go on runs. When there’s something around—fresh cookies, pumpkin pie—I might have some every day while it lasts. But then weeks or months might go by without any. There’s always those Hershey’s kisses.

Which I am trying to wean myself of right now.

cookieman's avatar

Speaking of Trader Joes, they have the most amazing mini ice cream bars. About an 1.5” x 2.5” bar – half vanilla, half coffee – under 10g of sugar. They are delicious!

And don’t get me started on their almond butter. Mmmmm.

Coloma's avatar

I love Trader Joes…try their Sweet Chili sauce over creme cheese with whole grain or rice chips…OMG!

JLeslie's avatar

I really like a few of the Stouffer’s frozen dinners. The real deal, not Lean Cuisine. I like their lasagna with meat sauce, swedish meatballs, fettucine alfredo, beef macaroni, beef with peppers, and the chicken a la king. I also like a few brands frozen pizzas, and sometimes I eat frozen chicken tenders or fish fillet. I probably eat a frozen meal 2–3 times a week. I don’t worry about sodium at all, but I agree they are high in sodium usually. By the way, not a dinner, but InnovAsian frozen sticky rice is amazing! Microwave in a couple minutes. I even use it to make “homemade” sushi. It is in the section where the PF Changs frozen is, someone mentioned Changs above, I think the PF Changs frozen is disgusting. Whenever I buy an Asian frozen to try, I take out half the sauce. Gross.

I eat a candy bar once a month at the most. It’s more like several candy bars right after Halloween and Easter (half price candy) and then none for months.

I eat fast food about 6–10 times a year, but it is mostly when on vacation, so it isn’t a regular once a month thing. Rather a stop during the 8 hour drive to Indiana, and then once while in Indiana possibly, but not necessarily

Eat out at a restaurant? While at home it is once a week. When on vacation or out of town (usually I am away about 6 times a year 5–7 days at a time) I eat at restaurants of some sort 2 meals a day.

Order food in? Never, except when I am in NYC, and even then maybe it all adds up to 3–4 times in a year.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Once a week at most.

AmWiser's avatar

Within the last 2 years…
Eat a candy bar? Maybe twice a year. I just finished a snack size Snickers before seeing this question.

Eat fast food? Never,ever.

Eat out at a restaurant? Two or three times a year (usually while travelling).

Order food in? Pizza about every other month.

Eat a frozen dinner? Never ever.
@augustlan I love Stouffer French Bread Pizza, but I wouldn’t call it a frozen dinner. I classify it under frozen snacks:)

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? Whenever the mood hits.

Kardamom's avatar

Even though I said I rarely eat sweets, I just realized that I have some of those new Girlscout cookies in the cookie jar, the ones with the dried cranberries. Yum!

JLeslie's avatar

I count frozen pizza as frozen dinners.

Coloma's avatar

Those newer “Who Nu” cookies are amazing. Just like Oreos but healthy. ( er ) lol

philosopher's avatar

@cprevite
Most of what I have bought at Trader Joes is excellent.
We are getting the chocolate covered frozen bananas for my son. We give him ice cream too.
We use agave in small quanties and avoid excess sugar.
They have good fish and chicken. All kinds of fried rice, yogurts and they are close by.
I still go to Shop and Shop or Shoprite and Costco. I am happy I don’t have to go to Wholefood they are too far.

Earthgirl's avatar

I rarely eat candy bars but around Halloween time I allow myself to indulge my addiction to Baby Ruths! My other favorites are Snicker’s and Peanut Butter Cups. I do however like other kinds of chocolate treats which are more gourmet. I love Cote D’Or chocolate and French truffles. In general, I would say I indulge about once every 3 weeks. I like having small amounts of really intensely good chocolate! That satisfies me so I eat less of it.

Fast food is so variable. Sometimes 5X a week and sometimes no times a week. I consider Chinese food fast food and that is what I have most often. I have pizza about once a month. There aren’t a lot of good places to eat near my office so I eat junk more than I should for lunch. I like to have hot food. I never was a sandwich eater, especially in the wintertime.

Restaurant-2x a month, usually one lunch, one dinner. I am averaging

Order food in? Not often at all. Occasional pizza.

Frozen dinner? I like some of Trader Joe’s frozen food but I combine it with other things. I never eat TV dinners. Sometimes I have frozen Chicken Pot Pie. Does that count? I do use convenience foods because I get home at 8:00 and don’t have much time to cook, but I try to ovoid things that are over processed. I think there’s a big difference between some frozen foods and your basic Hungry Man dinner.

Dessert? Once a week…..unless there are truffles in the house

cookieman's avatar

@philosopher: Oh, my wife and daughter love the chocolate covered banana slices too. I just had their frozen peas, beans, carrots, and corn tonight. We also shop around (Market Basket for essentials, local butcher for meats, Trader Joes for specialty and frozen stuff).

ETpro's avatar

How often do I eat a candy bar? Never more than once. When they come back out, they aren’t as appetizing any more.

Nullo's avatar

A couple times a month

Does pizza count? Then daily. Otherwise, rarely.

Rarely

New Year’s Eve.

Never

A couple times a week.

Kardamom's avatar

@Nullo You actually eat pizza every day? Do you make it or get take out, or eat frozen. I love pizza, but every day is too much for any one food for me. Even bean and cheese burritos lose their appeal if you eat them every day. Although 5 times a week for B&C burritos could easily be the norm for me, but I have to get them from different places.

Nullo's avatar

@Kardamom Pizza is one of the two entrees that they sell at the cafeteria at work. When I have a full shift, I most often eat from there.
Work lunch is, for me, more about the book that I’m reading than the food that I’m eating. But if I don’t eat, I get hungry, and I don’t like being hungry. Pizza is good because I don’t have to bring it, and all of the non-food stuff is disposable. And it’s got all the food groups, so yay healthy living. Yes, the proportions are off. That’s what makes it awesome.

That said, I love pizza. I could eat it every day, if there was enough variety.

smilingheart1's avatar

Wow, I must keep the food industry in all its diversity alive all by myself! Now I am wondering about my own longevity! Seriously, I do partake at various levels of every fork in the question. But that is now that my active family years have passed and the financial constraints along with them. It used to be for many years that McDonald’s was Saturday night treat but now I could easily eat restaurant food, though mostly carbless several times a week or the dreaded frozen entree once a month. Candy dish at work lures in others plus myself.

Earthgirl's avatar

Nullo I love that comment!!! “Lunch for me is more about the book I’m reading than the food I’m eating”
Kinda tells me a lot about you, but then, if I only had 2 entree choices every day I imagine I would feel the same way. Enjoy your pizza! :)

Nullo's avatar

@Earthgirl Thanks! I’m glad you find my little rhyme interesting. :D

Earthgirl's avatar

Nullo Hmmm….Do the words book and food rhyme? Not in my book. I can stretch the rhyme only so far, and I love poetry. Or were you referring to a different line perhaps?

Earthgirl trivia: My favorite rhyme from song lyrics is Joni Mitchell’s rhyming figure skater and coffee percolator in the song Last Time I Saw Richard

philosopher's avatar

@cprevite
We do not eat red meat. We were getting our chicken at the butcher but Trader Joe’s has decent chicken. They also have good wild salmon, grey sole and more.
I am grateful that most of their stuff is natural. They have cold cuts without Nitrates.
I wish they had products with lower salt content and less sugar.

Nullo's avatar

@Earthgirl No, but “reading” and “eating” do.
I think I can see why that’s your favorite rhyme;“percolator” is a great word.

Eat a candy bar? – Not often, not for healthy reasons or anything like that, just I never think to get one.

Eat fast food? – I’ve cut back as of recent, once or twice a week.

Eat out at a restaurant? – Rarely

Order food in? – Again, rarely.

Eat a frozen dinner? – A couple times a week.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? – Every once in awhile, I’m just not a big sweet eater.

wilma's avatar

Eat a candy bar? Probably once a week.

Eat fast food? once or twice a month.

Eat out at a restaurant? On average maybe once a month or less.

Order food in? Pizza maybe twice a month.

Eat a frozen dinner? A Lean Cuisine once in a while, maybe once a month.

Eat dessert food (ice cream, cake, pie, etc.)? I would like to everyday. Some days I have it more than once, some days not at all. :(

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Eat a candy bar- once a month, maybe.

Eat fast food- several times a week.

Eat out at a restaurant- once a week, pretty much.

Order food in- several times a week at work.

Eat a frozen dinner- maybe once a year I crave nasty frozen lasagne.

Eat dessert food- every other month, maybe.

I usually work at least 6 days a week and my shifts are from 10–15hrs so I eat most meals away from home. The idea of bringing meals to refrigerate didn’t work because co workers get into each other’s foods.

rooeytoo's avatar

Just had a Time Out, oh my it was soooooooo good.

wilma's avatar

Time Out?

@JLeslie Yeah, she covered that with fast food and ordering in.

JLeslie's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Oh yeah. Your probably right. When I wrote it I kind of consider fast food eating out, but I see how my questions imply they are separate. Thanks.

@wilma – Australia has made an art form out of candy bars and ice cream bars, the selection is mind boggling. Time Out is my favorite. That site is UK, the packaging is different in Au but the candy is the same.

Ah! a bit like a KitKat, but since it is Cadbury, it is probably better!
